Peter Rowan is a Bluegrass Hall of Fame inductee who is playing the Caffe this Sunday for the first time in 33 years. With a career spanning over 5 decades, this towering singer-songwriter is a 2022 & 2023 Grammy nominee. From his early years playing with Bill Monroe, to his time in Old & In the Way (Rowan, David Grisman, Jerry Garcia, Vassar Clements and John Kahn) and his breakout as a solo musician and bandleader, Rowan has kept it fresh, energetic and rooted in tradition.

The Polish women of Polky play our Nordlys Global Voices Series this Sunday. There’s a good chance dancing will break out! Now living in Toronto, Polky celebrates music’s unity and invites us to revel in the joy of life. Their debut album was nominated in three categories at the Canadian Folk Music Awards 2022, ultimately clinching the Traditional Singer of The Year Award for the talented Ewelina Ferenc.

This 2x Grammy nominated, blind, A-list artist will play Caffe Lena for the first time this Sunday. Midón traverses pop, jazz, soul, urban, cumbia, and flamenco. His breezy, sweet, silky style can be heard on more than 60 recordings, many Grammy-winning. He has served as a sideman for Shakira, Snoop Dogg, Queen Latifah, and has recorded and written with Herbie Hancock, Bill Withers and numerous other major artists. In 2021 he was awarded the Disability Rights Ambassador of the Year award, presented to him by friend and colleague Jason Mraz.

Eight Remarkable Artists That Played at Caffè Lena Before They Hit It Big

Pretty much every Saratogian knows that Bob Dylan performed at Caffè Lena back in the early ’60s, just as he was beginning to kick off his legendary folk career. But Bob wasn’t the only one.

According to Sarah Craig, Executive Director of Caffè Lena, most of the now famous musicians who have performed at the club weren’t famous when they first started performing there. “This was an important building block in their career and in building their skills, and that’s what Caffè Lena is really for,” she explains. “The shows are always great regardless of whether that person becomes a household name later down the line. That’s just a matter of lightning striking or not.”
