Born and raised on an Iowa farm, Jeannine Laverty has lived in New York State since 1968. She has been telling stories and teaching storytelling since 1979 when she was a full-time teacher of English to immigrant students in NYC. Every other year she teaches a free six-week storytelling course at the Saratoga Public Library. A Quaker social justice worker, she will take you out to the farm and up into mountains with deeply ethical stories, both personal and folk, that honor the earth. She has co-produced of the storytelling open mic night at Caffè Lena for more than a decade, tending the storytelling flame and keeping the community strong.
