Goodnight Moonshine

The gorgeous, soulful voice of Molly Venter of Red Molly, the inventive guitar playing of Eben Pariser, and the rich sound of a full quartet come together for an evening of exceptional musicianship, deeply personal songs, and irresistible musical chemistry.

Goodnight Moonshine began as the musical partnership of husband-and-wife duo Molly Venter and Eben Pariser. For this special Caffè Lena performance, they'll be joined by two additional musicians, bringing new depth, energy, and texture to their distinctive blend of folk, Americana, blues, and jazz.

Molly Venter first captured the hearts of folk audiences as a member of the acclaimed Americana trio Red Molly. Her voice has been described as both "biker-chick smoky" by the New Haven Register and "like silk" by American Songwriter. An accomplished songwriter, she brings uncommon honesty and emotional openness to songs about relationships, family, identity, and the complicated business of being human.

Eben Pariser is an equally compelling musical voice. A former member of the New Orleans-inspired band Roosevelt Dime, he studied jazz at Oberlin Conservatory and developed a guitar style that draws from blues, bluegrass, jazz, and improvisation. His adventurous playing brings unexpected colors and textures to Goodnight Moonshine's music, while his easy musical rapport with Molly remains at the heart of their sound.

Their latest album, Business Unusual, explores the sometimes chaotic, often beautiful realities of modern family life. Written in the wake of the pandemic, when the couple found themselves raising three young children, including newborn twins, the album reflects on the tension between love and exhaustion, ambition and responsibility, and the challenge of making room for creativity amid the demands of everyday life.

Rather than polishing away those experiences, Molly and Eben have turned them into songs filled with humor, vulnerability, resilience, and hard-won perspective. Their music finds beauty in the ordinary, and their performances invite audiences into the stories behind the songs.

With the expanded sound of a quartet, Goodnight Moonshine's music takes on an exciting new dimension. The additional instrumentation opens up room for richer arrangements, lively musical exchanges, and moments of spontaneous creativity, while preserving the intimacy and emotional honesty that make their songs so compelling.

Whether delivering a tender ballad or leaning into a bluesy, jazz-inflected groove, Goodnight Moonshine combines thoughtful songwriting with the joy of musicians listening, responding, and creating together.

Join us at Caffè Lena for a special quartet performance by Goodnight Moonshine, where beautiful voices, exceptional musicianship, and honest songs come together for a memorable evening.
