Sometimes songs take surprising journeys.

In the early 2000s, Cassandra Kubinski was a young singer-songwriter in Queens NY, surviving on baby carrots and Haagen-Dazs, writing lyrical, impassioned songs about wayward relationships, ambition, family, even a scuba diver who meets a watery end. She had no way of knowing that many of those songs would one day find a global audience through the hit television series Dance Moms.

Now, those songs are returning to where they began: just a girl and her piano (with a few fantastic musician friends!) 

Join Cassandra Kubinski for a unique and intimate evening of storytelling and song as she previews music from her upcoming album, Dance Moms Acoustic and Lyrical Solos, set for release in August. Produced by Jim Mastrianni (who also produced her Saratoga Sessions EP and duet “Burn It Down” with Sawyer Fredericks).  The album reimagines 9 of the 13 songs featured on the show, stripping them back to their original form: honest lyrics, expressive melodies, and the unmistakable voice of the songwriter who created them.

More than a retrospective, this special concert offers a rare glimpse into the creative process behind songs that resonated with millions of viewers while introducing audiences to the rich catalog that has made Kubinski a beloved fixture of the regional, national and international singer-songwriter scenes. Expect an unhurried evening of piano-driven storytelling, with Cassandra sharing some of her earliest catalog and stories, plus lyrical, folky, kazoo-toting fan favorites, and a few surprises.

Whether you know these songs from television or are hearing them for the very first time, this performance celebrates the enduring power of a well-crafted song and the unexpected paths music can take.
