The Skidmore Jazz Institute has been called the “non-pareil destination for attentive and engaged instruction in the improviser’s art” by DOWNBEAT Magazine. For two weeks each summer, 65 aspiring young musicians from across the country come to Skidmore College to learn from a faculty of top jazz practitioners who are also gifted educators. The Skidmore Summer Jazz Institute Students Concert is held annually at the midpoint of the program and showcases the dedication, hard work, and immense musical growth achieved by these gifted students during their time at the Institute.
