Duke Robillard Band

Few guitarists have covered as much ground in American roots music as Duke Robillard.

A master of blues, jump R&B, swing, and early rock ’n’ roll, Robillard has spent more than five decades developing a style that is both deeply traditional and unmistakably his own. His playing is precise, fluid, and grounded in a deep understanding of the music that came before him.

In 1967, Robillard co-founded Roomful of Blues, helping spark a revival of jump blues and horn-driven rhythm and blues that still resonates today. He later joined The Fabulous Thunderbirds, stepping into the guitar role after Jimmie Vaughan, and has performed and recorded with artists including Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Ruth Brown, John Hammond, and Maria Muldaur.

Alongside his work as a bandleader, Robillard has built a substantial solo catalog, earning multiple Blues Music Awards and Grammy nominations. His recordings move easily between styles, from Chicago blues to swing-era jazz, always with a strong sense of feel and phrasing.

Often called a “guitarist’s guitarist,” Robillard brings both technique and taste to the stage. His shows are rooted in the blues but never limited by it. He draws from a wide range of American music while keeping the focus on the song. At Caffè Lena, Duke will be appearing with his band.
