Caffè Lena, in collaboration with MLK Saratoga, presents an evening with two-time Grammy nominee and acclaimed American blues musician Guy Davis as part of the 2027 Dr. King Celebration Weekend.
Music was central to Dr. King’s movement. It inspired courage, built community, and turned love into action. Through his music and family history, Davis represents a living connection between the cultural legacy of the civil rights movement and the ongoing pursuit of social justice. His parents, Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee – icons of American theater and cinema – were profoundly influential civil rights activists, who used their voices and artistry to advance equality in support of Dr. King’s efforts. Their commitment to justice is part of the family tradition Davis carries forward through his own music and storytelling, drawing on the blues tradition to give voice to the struggles, resilience, and humanity of the African American experience.
As we celebrate Dr. King’s enduring legacy this year with his words “We must use time creatively, in the knowledge that the time is always ripe to do right,” Davis reminds us that art can inspire connection, deepen understanding, and move us toward a more just world – and that the responsibility to do what’s right belongs to every generation.
This concert is free and open to the public with a reservation. Caffè Lena is also generously offering a free livestream for those who wish to experience the performance remotely.
Note: Caffe Lena does not permit ticket reselling above face value. Tickets purchased for the purpose of resale may be canceled without notice, and refunds for such purchases will not be granted.
