On the Lash

Rooted in the rich traditions of Irish music but never content to simply recreate the past, On The Lash brings a fresh, spirited approach to Celtic tunes and songs. With soaring flute and fiddle melodies, driving guitar and mandolin, and beautiful four-part vocal harmonies, this quartet makes centuries-old music feel wonderfully alive.

The members of On The Lash first made their mark performing with the nationally acclaimed folk band The Founding, touring coast to coast and appearing at major festivals including the Michigan Irish Music Festival, Austin Celtic Festival, Boston Irish Festival, and Oregon's Yachats Celtic Festival. Along the way, they developed the kind of musical chemistry that comes from countless hours of playing, traveling, and sharing stages together.

Now performing as On The Lash, these four accomplished musicians are putting their own stamp on Irish traditional music, breathing new life into familiar favorites while creating original arrangements that showcase the music's remarkable versatility. Their repertoire moves effortlessly between lively instrumental sets, stirring ballads, and unexpected interpretations, all delivered with warmth, personality, and impeccable musicianship.

The band features Elizabeth June on flute and lead vocals, John Robey on fiddle and vocals, Patrick Hartson on guitar and vocals, and Joel Tyrone Myers on mandolin and vocals. Together, they create a sound that's both richly layered and wonderfully intimate.

One reviewer called their performance "mesmerizing," praising their extraordinary vocal harmonies, pinpoint musicianship, and wide-ranging appeal.

Whether you've loved Irish music all your life or are just discovering its irresistible rhythms and melodies, On The Lash promises an evening of terrific music, infectious energy, and the kind of musical connection that feels right at home on the Caffè Lena stage.
