Greetings – With room for just a dozen parties, the shows are “selling out” quickly. We all hope the virus recedes and the capacity rises, but in the meantime we’ll enjoy the elbow room you see in that cozy, spacious room above and encourage our mini-crowd to applaud and cheer with the gusto of a packed house.

Along with the sold out concerts below (Sunday still has some tickets, and there’s infinite room to watch online!), you’ll see a livestreamed Community Classroom on Solitary Confinement. This series represents our commitment to sharing and honoring the stories of all folks, including vulnerable and forgotten people. When we sing “Midnight Special” and “Down In the Valley,” we’re singing songs of prisoners. What’s life like in prisons now? Well, in NYS, with passage of the HALT Act, it just got a little better for those (nearly 9%!) held in solitary confinement. We have the incredible honor of hosting four of the leading figures in the national movement to end solitary confinement. If you disagree, join the conversation! If you agree, join the conversation and learn what’s coming next in this movement. This is our chance to learn from each other–a true community classroom!

See you at the show,
Sarah

Gov. Cuomo just signed into law the HALT Act, which stands for Humane Alternatives to Long Term confinement. This Community Classroom will guide us through the improvements brought about by passage of HALT and will look at next steps in the movement to change how prisoners are treated in America. Our dynamic and knowledgeable speakers are national and state leaders in the movement to end a practice widely regarded as a form of torture. Two are survivors of long-term solitary who have dedicated their lives to illuminating the public about the harm of long-term isolation on prisoners, families and prison workers.
