Join the Capital Region Blues Network for their annual solo-duo competition at Caffe Lena! Three acts will be competing for the right to represent CRBN at the International Blues Competition in Memphis, TN in January 2020.

Mark & Jill

Mark and Jill are a powerful duo of American root blues meets soulful country Texas Smoke.  The Seasoned Saratoga blues man, and NY Blues hall of fame inductee Mark Tolstrup is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, recording artist and performer playing the guitar and the tenor banjo.  A Texas native, Jill’s voice brings together elements of Southern Gospel, Blues, and Country  music. She knows just when to bring out that soulful Texas Smoke, and when to whisper those soft haunting harmonies. She is a vocalist who has been involved in theater productions as well as currently performing with the Albany based Pink Floyd Tribute Band, Dark Sarcasm singing choral, harmony, and backup vocals.

Chest’r

Chest’r has been playing guitar since he was a kid. He is a revered teacher and manager of Millers Music store in Troy, NY.  He has toured through the U.S. and Europe and played in a variety of blues bands around the Capital Region.

Misty Blues (Duo)

Based out of Williamstown MA, Misty Blues pays homage to the older blues made popular by the bold and brassy women of its time, while still paying respect to classic male artists of the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. The core band consists of lead vocalist extraordinaire Gina Coleman born to sing the blues sings with gusto and pure vibrato.
