In a career that took flight in 1985 with commercial and critical acclaim, guitar virtuoso Jordan has consistently displayed a musical persona of openness, imagination, versatility and maverick daring. Be it bold reinventions of classical masterpieces or soulful explorations through pop-rock hits, to blazing straight ahead jazz forays and ultramodern improvisational works, solo or with a group, Jordan can always be counted on to take listeners on breathless journeys into the unexpected.
The JAZZ at Caffe Lena series is hosted by resident composer, pianist, and jazz master Chuck Lamb, with support from music producer Joel Moss. Each month, Lamb invites a top-flight jazz artist to join his trio on stage. Lamb, a member of the Brubeck Brothers Quartet since 2002, is not only an exciting and emotive pianist but also a prolific composer of jazz, fusion, classical, and world music. Through these collaborations, the artists stretch their creative boundaries, exploring new musical landscapes and creating spontaneous, exhilarating performances.

She has released eight critically acclaimed albums, two of which were awarded Best Pop Album of the year by the Association for Independent Music. But where she shines brightest is on the live stage. Maybe it's her background as a clinical psychologist, because there's nobody who helps us unwind, let our guard down, and open our hearts like Lucy Kaplansky. She makes every audience feel like a circle of old friends catching up and reconnecting. Kaplansky is also part of folk supergroup Cry Cry Cry with Dar Williams and Richard Shindell. Annual shows here helped them gain national attention, with NPR describing their indie rock as “exquisitely arranged, literary minded, baroque folk-pop.” Their elegant compositions and unified voices have earned praise from Rolling Stone and The New Yorker, fostering a worldwide following.
Their fourth LP, Everything Is Alive, brings fresh new sounds. Exploring themes of personal and universal change, the album delves into big life decisions, emphasizing loss and redemption. Produced and recorded by the band and mixed by Tucker Martine (My Morning Jacket, Sufjan Stevens, Iron and Wine), it showcases Darlingside’s evolution while retaining signature harmonies and melodic sophistication.

The Grand Boubousse, French for "Big Blowout," is an electrifying early jazz collective showcasing top Capital Region talent, including clarinet virtuoso Jonathan Greene, anchor of the popular gypsy jazz group Hot Club of Saratoga.
Born at the start of the last century, early jazz blends Black American musical traditions with European influences, creating the infectious rhythms and melodies that defined the Jazz Age.
Local swing clarinetist Jonathan Greene has spent the better part of the past three years living and performing in NYC, New Orleans, Paris, Berlin and the UK. Greene will present a night of 1930s' swing music featuring some of the most in-demand Northeast-based musicians. The band features swing pianist Mark Shane (who played with Benny Goodman), Brad Brose on guitar, Sean Cronin on bass, and Kevin Dorn on drums.
The ensemble revives classics from Louis Armstrong to Django Reinhardt, lighting up the room with high spirits and warm nostalgia. Whether you're a longtime jazz aficionado or new to the genre, Jonathan Greene and The Grand Boubousse promise an evening of irresistible rhythms and soulful solos that take you back to the golden age of jazz. Tatiana Eva-Marie & The Avalon Jazz Band

Her French popular songs are rooted in the Django tradition, with Balkan Gypsy and folk influences. This young phenom has shaken up the trad jazz scene, racking up nearly 100 million views on YouTube. After choosing NYC as her homebase, she founded the Avalon Jazz Band, which became the number one reference for French swing around the world, and Tatiana became the international ambassador of "1930s Paris." This is the band's first performance at Caffe Lena.

John Kirk is the primary vocalist and instrumental wizard on fiddle, mandolin & more. Trish Miller plays banjo, guitar and provides percussive dance steps. Together, this married couple has been working and teaching in upstate New York for over three decades.
Old time music is the basis for their repertoire, but they also like to mix in some originals, Celtic, early country songs, humorous selections and Appalachian clog dancing. Many songs and tunes are rooted in the local lore of the northeast woodlands. Their story-telling songs and poetic pieces make their shows fine entertainment for all ages.
Sean Rowe

He has a powerful sound with an emotional conviction that demands attention. NPR’s All Songs Considered says of Rowe’s vocals, “He can just crush granite with that voice. It’s so powerful.” The Wall Street Journal proclaimed, “Mr. Rowe's ringing baritone is as timeless as his approach, recalling the ecstatic intensity of late-'60s Van Morrison and stark subtlety of late-era Johnny Cash.” Rowe has graced the stage of Mountain Jam, Wilco’s Solid Sound Festival as well as opening for Robert Plant and the Alabama Shakes. Both an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and having his song, “To Leave Something Behind” featured in the film, “The Accountant”, have expanded his voice to an international audience.
His latest release, The Darkness Dressed in Colored Lights, was recorded at The Hive in Wisconsin by Grammy-winning engineer, Brian Joseph (Bon Iver). Expanding his sound, Rowe continues to write heartfelt songs strongly rooted in singer-songwriter tradition. PopMatters.com reflected, “with lyrics that have the poetic storytelling quality you expect from Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen.” An avid naturalist and renowned forager, Rowe often speaks of his fascination with the woods and his connection to the land.

In 2015, Jessica moved to the New York City market, where she now anchors for MSNBC and occasionally on NBC's Early Today Show. Jerry and Benita continued as co-anchors at WNYT, touring with their show, Side By Side, for two years. Benita stepped away from WNYT in 2021 after more than 30 years on Albany’s airwaves, and in 2022, Jerry left his anchor role to join the NYS Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) as Associate Commissioner for Internal & External Affairs.

Racquette River Rounders Annual Boxing Day Reunion Show

They play everything from traditional reels and jigs to Fats Waller, Elvis Presley and their own originals. They officially disbanded in 1982, but their annual Boxing Day Reunion Show at Lena's has become a cherished annual event for die-hard fans and newcomers, alike.

Lost Leaders

NYC singer and irresistible personality Peter Cole, along with two-time GRAMMY-winner Byron Isaacs (current member of The Lumineers), have done weird tours and triumphant tours, placed lots of songs in film and TV, and maintained a sense of humor and artistic authenticity throughout. They've branched out from their early commitment to Americana and entered a retro pop/rock universe. Their anthemic songs push the national zeitgeist through vintage synthesizers, guitar pedals and tea-soaked vocal cords to create songs that are triumphant, unguarded and singable.
This twosome was born out of Levon Helm’s legendary Midnight Ramble and quickly earned attention in the pages of RELIX, No Depression and The Huffington Post. Their eponymously titled first album yielded the successful radio track “I’m Gonna Win” and started their journey through years of weirdness and magic which continues in their newest collection, Hungry Ghosts, an exploration of desire and acceptance.

The Nields

Today, sisters Nerissa and Katryna perform as a duo often compared to The Indigo Girls and The Roches. Little Folks: The Nields

Breaking out in the ‘90s as an alt-rock band, they became that rare band that teens and parents could agree on. Once they became parents themselves, they began sprinkling shows for little ones into their tours, playing sets of family-friendly originals with folk classics, creating an engaging, all-ages experience.
The sisters evoke the spirit of Pete Seeger with audience sing-alongs. Expect your kids to shout out answers to their questions, and participate in raucous clap-alongs to new classics like "Molly the Donkey." The atmosphere is a joyful, participatory experience where children and adults alike join in song and laughter.
Raised in a musical family, the Nields sisters learned harmony around the kitchen table. Their deep connection to folk music, passed down from their parents, informs every performance. Five Decades at Caffe Lena: The Joe Deuel Photo Collection
caffe lena 47 Phila St., Saratoga Springs, NY, United StatesIf you've been to a show at Caffe Lena, you know Joe Deuel as the man who creates the venue's pristine sound. When he steps out from behind the soundboard with his camera, he captures tender and unique images of live performances, as well as life behind the scenes at America's Oldest Coffeehouse. Much of the 2013 coffee table book, Caffe Lena: Inside America's Legendary Folk Music Coffeehouse, comprised Joe's photos. Until now, we've never had the chance to hear him talk about these photos, his memories of Lena, and his interactions with artists dating back to the 1970s.
Executive Director Sarah Craig, who has worked alongside Joe for the past 30 years, will be guiding the conversation and taking your questions as Joe shares his iconic photos spanning five decades, as well as plenty of never-before-seen images.
In addition engineering sound for Caffe Lena, Joe has worked as a photographer for several publications, including "Eye on Saratoga," "The Source Magazine," "Buzz" and "Saratoga Living." His work has been seen in nationally distributed CDs by Dave Van Ronk, Rosalie Sorrells, The Highwaymen, The Figgs, Chandler Travis, and many others. He has exhibited in various invitational shows including Saratoga Visual Arts, High Rock Review, the juried Albany/Troy Photo Regional, "Impasse and Motion" at Saratoga Arts, and "A Transitional Interpretation: American Roots Music By Five Photographers" at Crandall Folklife Center.
Poetry Open Mic Featuring Susan Oringel

Her poetry collections include Carnevale (David Robert Books, 2023) and My Coney Island (Finishing Line Press 2019), She has published in various literary journals and has also served as co-translator of a collection of Latin American poetry: Messengers of Rain, published by Groundwoods Press, 2002 & 2011. She taught creative writing at Hudson Valley Community College and at the Pyramid Life Center’s Women’s Writing Retreat. Fellowships and awards include Individual Artist award from the Albany-Schenectady League of Arts, a fellowship from the Vermont Studio Center, and an SOS award sponsored by the New York State Council of the Arts.

Nicknamed "The Welsh Tornado" for his fretboard pyrotechnics, his original pieces draw from a rich palette of folk, classical, funk, pop and jazz. His fast-growing international reputation is built on phenomenal musicianship and charming, humorous stagecraft.
