Written by songwriter Rachel Sumner\, it has been streamed hundreds of thousands of times and shared widely in classrooms\, performances\, and folk circles across the country. Now Sumner brings those songs to the Caffè Lena stage with her trio Traveling Light\, performing gathered around a single microphone with close harmonies\, fiddle\, upright bass\, and acoustic guitar. In 2024 she was named a Kerrville New Folk winner\, one of the most respected honors in songwriting\, and five of her songs are now archived at the Library of Congress. On stage\, Sumner is joined by Kat Wallace on fiddle and vocals and Mike Siegel on upright bass and vocals. Performing gathered around a single microphone\, the trio creates a warm\, balanced sound built on close vocal harmonies and careful musicianship—exactly the kind of music that shines in a listening room. Their latest release\, The Traveling Light Sessions\, captures the trio the same way they perform live: voices\, fiddle\, bass\, and guitar recorded together in the room\, without overdubs.
