A Saratoga-based magician known for his relaxed\, contemporary style\, Mills blends sleight of hand\, illusion\, comedy and audience participation into a show that feels spontaneous and playful\, with just the right amount of mischief. In a room as intimate as Caffè Lena\, there’s very little distance between you and the magic—which only makes it harder to explain. Michael has performed at theaters\, clubs and resorts around the country\, including the renowned Chicago Magic Lounge. In 2024\, he became the first magician to perform on the Caffè Lena stage\, followed by return appearances in 2025. We’re thrilled to have him return with a mix of favorite pieces and new surprises. Recommended for ages 14+. Note: Caffe Lena does not permit ticket reselling above face value. THERE ARE NO PRE-SHOW RESERVATIONS FOR THE JAMS! SUGGESTED DONATION AT THE DOOR. $5.00 per person Our jams are all about sharing songs\, making new friends\, and enjoying a relaxing and casual evening of irresistible string band music. ALL are welcome to join the circle for an afternoon or evening playing and listening to classic grass\, new grass and folk favorites. We sometimes refer to our genre as eclectic acoustic. Red Spruce and Adirondack Song Dogs will kick off each session with a few tunes then open the floor for musicians to lead their favorite bluegrass tunes and folk music\, backed up by the other pickers in the gathering. Simple tunes are always popular! So sharpen up your axe\, come prepared with your song\, and let us hear some good old fast\, high and lonesome\, some slow and low\, or a good old favorite. All are welcome! What is a Slow Jam? It is a group of string instrument players and singers who get together to have fun making music. The “slow” modifier indicates that it is targeted to the following musicians: people who have been playing solo and want to get used to playing in a group setting: people who have just learned how to play and want to play with others; people who have instruments that have been gathering dust for a “few” years; experienced players who are trying out playing instruments other than their primary instrument; people who are comfortable playing their instrument but want to become more comfortable singing/leading a song.. The tunes are played at 80 to 110 BPM and usually in basic keys such a G\, A\, D\, C major\, but it always sounds great to play in some minor keys such as “a”\, “e”\, and “g”. We will try to avoid “jam busters.” It is our hope that after this experience you will feel more comfortable playing at the many open jams and open mics that can be found in our area. \n \n	\n \n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n \n Doors Open\n Doors Open: 6:30 pm	\n \n	\n\n \n\n	\n \n	\n \n Price\n \n Member\n $27.11\n \n \n \n \n \n General\n $30.37\n \n \n \n \n \n Child or Student\n $15.18\n \n \n \n				 \n inclusive of fees\n \n \n \n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n \n \n Get Tickets \n \n Streaming\n \n \n \n	\n	\n	\n	\n \n \n Similar Events\n \n View All\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n Caffè Lena\n	\n	\n \n\n The Beatle Caffè\n\n American Roots Folk Jazz Multi-act Program Soul\n \n \n \n \n event\n \n \n \n \n Nov 8 • 3 PM \n \n	\n\n\n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n Caffè Lena\n	\n	\n \n\n The Beatle Caffè\n\n American Roots Folk Jazz Multi-act Program Soul\n \n \n \n \n event\n \n \n \n \n Nov 8 • 7 PM \n \n	\n\n\n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n Caffè Lena\n	\n	\n \n\n Peak Jazz Series: Frank Vignola & Vinny Raniolo\n\n Jazz\n \n \n \n \n event\n \n \n \n \n Nov 20 • 8 PM

Buggy Jive is an acoustic soul rock singer-songwriter from the Albany\, New York area\, equal parts Zeppelin and D’Angelo and Prince and Joni in sound and sensibility. Smart songs\, serious soul\, a little irreverence\, and a musical imagination that refuses to stay in its lane. Come discover Buggy Jive at Caffè Lena. Somewhere in a basement in Upstate New York\, a somewhat reclusive singer-songwriter has been quietly creating some of the most original music coming out of the Capital Region. His name is Buggy Jive\, and his distinctive blend of acoustic soul\, rock\, funk\, and folk is earning attention well beyond his basement walls. In 2026\, Buggy took home four Capital Region Eddie Awards\, including Songwriter of the Year\, Album of the Year\, Solo/Duo Artist of the Year\, and Music Video of the Year. He has opened for Macy Gray and Ben Folds\, and earned a coveted Top Shelf feature in NPR's Tiny Desk Contest.  A gifted songwriter with a sharp wit and a love of literature\, Buggy draws inspiration from writers as varied as Ralph Ellison\, Toni Morrison\, T.S. Eliot\, and Joan Didion. His songs tackle love\, identity\, storytelling\, and the anxieties of modern life with intelligence\, humor\, and an occasional well-placed expletive. The music can be funky\, tender\, confrontational\, or downright funny\, sometimes all within the same song.  His acclaimed 2025 album\, Icarus Ascending\, established him as a distinctive voice in contemporary songwriting. Now he's preparing its companion album\, Daedalus Down\, nine new songs that explore the complicated business of being human in complicated times. Recorded in his home studio\, the album includes the single "Meaning in the Morning\," a wonderfully unpredictable mix that sounds like nobody else but Buggy Jive. Buggy has deep roots in the Capital Region and is no stranger to the Caffè Lena stage. He has appeared as part of the Lena Go Round series\, The Beatle Caffe\, multiple artist tribute nights\, and most recently supporting acclaimed songwriter Joy Clark. We are thrilled to welcome him back for his first (and long overdue!) headlining show in our listening room. Sample Song Stream this show live at Caffè Lena TV. She has released nine critically acclaimed albums\, two of which were awarded Best Pop Album of the year by the Association for Independent Music. But where she shines brightest is on the live stage.  Maybe it's her background as a clinical psychologist\, because there's nobody who helps us unwind\, let our guard down\, and open our hearts like Lucy Kaplansky. She makes every audience feel like a circle of old friends catching up and reconnecting. Kaplansky is also part of folk supergroup Cry Cry Cry with Dar Williams and Richard Shindell.  Her recording of Roxy Music’s “More Than This” has over 12 million streams on Spotify\, and she has been featured on NPR’s All Things Considered\, Weekend Edition\, and Morning Edition as well as BBC Radio\, and CBS Sunday Morning\, and has sung harmony on albums by Suzanne Vega\, Bryan Ferry\, Nanci Griffith and Shawn Colvin.  Her latest release\, The Lucy Story (2025)\, is a retrospective of unreleased tracks\, demos\, and live recordings spanning her remarkable journey—from teenage bedroom tapes to international tours and studio collaborations with some of folk music’s finest. NPR’s Scott Simon has called her music “utterly beautiful and affecting\,” a fitting tribute to an artist whose songs capture the human experience with honesty\, warmth\, and grace. SUMMARY:Willie Watson
DESCRIPTION:Jazz \n\n \n Share:\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	Please note: This show was rescheduled from its original 9/11/26 date due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict. Before he turned 18\, Willie Watson had a moment that would quietly change everything. In an apple orchard in upstate New York\, singing old songs with a fellow traveler\, Ruby Love\, he felt something open. Music was more than music\, it was a way of making sense of heartbreak\, confusion\, and the shape of a life just beginning. He’s called it\, in his own way\, a duet with the divine. That moment set him on a path that would soon lead to the formation of Old Crow Medicine Show\, and years spent carrying forward the deep well of American folk tradition. But the role he stepped into\, the keeper of old songs\, the “nice singer in the cowboy hat”\, would eventually begin to feel limiting. Life moved forward in complicated ways: marriage and fatherhood\, years on the road\, and the quiet disorientation of trying to hold onto yourself while the world keeps shifting around you. There were harder chapters\, too\, periods of excess and disconnection that nearly broke him.  What followed was slower\, more difficult work. Sobriety\, yes\, but also something deeper: a willingness to look back\, to face the parts of his story that shaped him\, and to begin again with intention. In that space\, songwriting became not just an outlet\, but a necessity. Watson began writing songs that didn’t hide behind tradition\, but stood inside his own experience\, songs that wrestle with memory\, regret\, tenderness\, and the fragile hope that comes with change.  His self-titled album is the result of that reckoning. Created in close collaboration with songwriter Morgan Nagler and brought to life with a small\, intuitive band\, the songs feel like moments of discovery unfolding in real time\, shaped as much by silence and reflection as by melody. They look backward in order to move forward\, tracing the emotional terrain of a life lived fully\, and not always easily.  There are still echoes of the old songs he’s long carried\, those timeless melodies\, familiar shapes\, but now they sit alongside something new. Watson has stepped fully into the role of songwriter\, adding his own stories to the tradition he once interpreted. The result is music that feels both rooted and deeply personal\, shaped by experience and delivered with a voice that has nothing left to prove. \n \n	\n \n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n \n Doors Open\n Doors Open: 7:30 pm	\n \n	\n\n \n\n	\n \n	\n \n Price\n \n Member\n $45.55\n \n \n \n \n \n General\n $50.97\n \n \n \n \n \n Child or Student\n $25.49\n \n \n \n				 \n inclusive of fees\n \n \n \n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n \n \n Get Tickets \n \n Streaming\n \n \n \n	\n	\n	\n	\n \n \n Similar Events\n \n View All\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n Caffè Lena\n	\n	\n \n\n The Beatle Caffè\n\n American Roots Folk Jazz Multi-act Program Soul\n \n \n \n \n event\n \n \n \n \n Nov 8 • 3 PM \n \n	\n\n\n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n Caffè Lena\n	\n	\n \n\n The Beatle Caffè\n\n American Roots Folk Jazz Multi-act Program Soul\n \n \n \n \n event\n \n \n \n \n Nov 8 • 7 PM \n \n	\n\n\n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n Caffè Lena\n	\n	\n \n\n Chuck Lamb & Diego Figueiredo\n\n Instrumental Jazz\n \n \n \n \n event\n \n \n \n \n Nov 10 • 7 PM

SUMMARY:Peak Jazz Series: Ben Sherman Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Instrumental Jazz \n\n \n Share:\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	A rising talent on New York City's vibrant jazz scene\, Ben Sherman combines a deep respect for the music's rich history with a fresh\, adventurous approach to improvisation and composition. His playing is expressive\, inventive and firmly rooted in the jazz tradition\, while always looking for new possibilities. Sherman's musical journey began in middle school\, and by his teenage years\, he was already making his way into New York City's legendary jazz jam sessions\, learning firsthand from the musicians who make the city's jazz scene one of the most exciting in the world. Along the way\, he studied with acclaimed saxophonists Abraham Burton and Tim Berne\, developing a musical voice that balances technical command with creativity and emotional depth. Despite his young age\, Sherman has already shared the bandstand with an impressive array of musicians\, including Joel Ross\, William Parker\, Anthony Hervey and Winard Harper. He has also toured with Freedom First\, a powerful musical project featuring Keith LaMar\, and performs regularly at celebrated jazz venues including The Jazz Gallery and Smalls Jazz Club. With the Ben Sherman Quartet\, he brings together a group of talented young musicians who share his passion for exploration and musical conversation. Current quartet members are Roman Goron on piano\, Solomon Gottfried on bass\, Jacob Patrone on drums\, and Ben on saxophone. The quartet's sound draws on the energy and sophistication of classic jazz while embracing the spontaneity and fresh ideas of today's generation of players. Expect inventive arrangements\, expressive solos and the kind of musical interplay that makes small-group jazz so exciting. At Caffè Lena\, where every nuance can be heard and the connection between musicians and audience is immediate\, the Ben Sherman Quartet offers a chance to experience an emerging jazz voice up close. Come hear where the next generation is taking jazz. SAMPLE SONG The Peak Jazz Series is made possible by the generous support of Joseph & Luann Conlon in memory of Joel Moss. SUMMARY:Cindy Cashdollar & Jack Petruzzelli Present: Two Many Guitars
DESCRIPTION:Instrumental Jazz \n\n \n Share:\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	A five-time Grammy winner and one of the most sought-after roots musicians of her generation\, Cashdollar is a master of dobro\, lap steel and steel guitar whose playing can add fire to a blues tune\, sweetness to a ballad\, swing to a country song and something entirely her own to just about anything she touches. Her musical story began in Woodstock\, NY\, where she came up in the extraordinary community surrounding artists like Levon Helm and Rick Danko\, playing with local greats including John Herald\, Paul Butterfield and Happy & Artie Traum. A move to Nashville led to nine years with Western Swing giants Asleep at the Wheel\, five Grammy Awards and collaborations with Willie Nelson\, Merle Haggard\, Dolly Parton and Lyle Lovett. Since then\, everyone from Bob Dylan and Van Morrison to Rod Stewart\, Jorma Kaukonen\, John Sebastian and Peter Rowan has called on Cashdollar to bring her unmistakable sound to their music. She was also the first woman inducted into the Texas Steel Guitar Hall of Fame\, and in 2022 the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum honored her as one of its “Nashville Cats\,” recognizing the musicians whose playing has helped shape countless recordings and performances. For Two Many Guitars\, Cashdollar joins guitarist Jack Petruzzelli for a trip through a century of music\, moving from the jazz of Django Reinhardt\, Thelonious Monk and Hoagy Carmichael to the roots music of Chet Atkins\, Lonnie Johnson and beyond.   Petruzzelli brings a formidable musical history of his own. A multi-instrumentalist\, songwriter and Grammy-nominated producer\, he has worked with Patti Smith\, Ian Hunter\, Joan Osborne and Rufus Wainwright and is a founding member of acclaimed Beatles tribute band The Fab Faux.   And for this Caffè Lena show\, they’re bringing a full band: Karl Allweier on bass and vocals\, Will Bryant on piano and vocals\, and Justin Guip on drums. Expect Western Swing\, jazz\, blues\, country and roots music to rub shoulders\, with plenty of room for five exceptional musicians to stretch out\, trade ideas and follow the music wherever it wants to go. With Cashdollar’s extraordinary command of steel guitar\, Petruzzelli’s versatility and musical imagination\, and a powerhouse rhythm section\, Two Many Guitars promises an evening of inspired musicianship\, unexpected musical twists and the kind of interplay that makes live music so exciting. Five outstanding musicians\, a century of musical inspiration and a whole lot of talent on the Caffè Lena stage. This is one for the music lovers! SAMPLE SONG Stream this show live at Caffè Lena TV. Now this extraordinary artist is coming back. Philadelphia-born singer\, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Gail Ann Dorsey is widely recognized as one of the most respected bass players and vocalists in modern music\, with a career that has placed her alongside some of the most influential artists of the past four decades. Many fans know Dorsey from her longtime collaboration with David Bowie. She held the bass chair in Bowie’s touring band from 1995–2004\, and her extraordinary voice became an unforgettable part of their live performances of the Queen/Bowie classic “Under Pressure.” She recorded and performed extensively with Bowie during one of the most creatively adventurous periods of his later career. Dorsey’s remarkable musical journey has also included recording and touring with artists including Lenny Kravitz\, Tears for Fears\, Seal\, Gwen Stefani\, Bryan Ferry\, Gang of Four\, The National\, Thomas Dolby\, and many others. She has also been a featured vocalist with Blackstar Symphony\, celebrating Bowie’s music alongside other musicians who knew and worked with him. But Gail Ann Dorsey has always been much more than the extraordinary musician standing beside somebody else. She is a songwriter and solo artist in her own right\, with three acclaimed albums to her name: The Corporate World\, Rude Blue and I Used to Be… Now\, more than two decades after her last solo album\, Dorsey is returning to that part of her musical life with new music. Her forthcoming album\, The Appearance of Life\, brings the focus squarely back to her own voice\, writing and musicianship. Inspired in part by the sophisticated sounds of 1970s AM/FM radio and artists including Carole King\, Roberta Flack and Joan Armatrading\, it marks an exciting new chapter for an artist whose career has never followed an ordinary path. Last time she visited Caffè Lena\, every seat was filled. This time\, we have the rare chance to welcome her back as she enters a new chapter of her own extraordinary career. Don’t miss Gail Ann Dorsey up close at Caffè Lena. SAMPLE SONG Stream this show live at Caffè Lena TV. Livestream available for $5 – 100% of live stream tickets on CaffeLenaTV benefit the artists. SUMMARY:Racquette River Rounders Annual Boxing Day Reunion Show
DESCRIPTION:Instrumental Jazz \n\n \n Share:\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	Celebrate Boxing Day with the Raquette River Rounders\, bringing great picking\, old favorites and decades of musical friendship to Caffè Lena. At Caffè Lena\, the day after Christmas means the Raquette River Rounders. Guitarist Danny Gotham and singer-songwriter John Kribs first joined forces with the late bassist Michael Hadfield in the late 1970s\, creating an eclectic North Country string band that never paid much attention to musical boundaries. Traditional reels and jigs might rub shoulders with old country\, swing and blues\, followed by Fats Waller\, Elvis Presley or one of their own songs. The Rounders toured extensively\, made two albums for Adirondack Records and built a devoted following before officially going their separate ways in the early 1980s. Year after year\, the Rounders have found their way back to Caffè Lena for their annual Boxing Day Reunion Show\, turning December 26 into a gathering of old friends\, longtime fans and newcomers discovering what all the fuss is about. And there’s plenty of musical history on that stage. Danny Gotham is a master flatpicker and fingerpicker who took second place in the prestigious National Fingerpicking Guitar Championship in Winfield\, Kansas\, and has performed with artists including Tom Paxton and Peter Ostroushko. John Kribs has spent nearly six decades making music\, from the Northeast coffeehouse circuit and the Rounders to Johnny & The Triumphs and beyond\, writing and performing an enormous range of American roots music along the way. What brings them back together\, though\, is simpler than all those credentials: these guys love playing music together. Expect great picking\, songs you haven't heard in years\, songs you didn't know you needed to hear\, plenty of stories and the easy chemistry that comes from a musical friendship stretching back nearly half a century. Christmas may be over\, but nobody says the party has to be\, come spend Boxing Day with the Raquette River Rounders at Caffè Lena\, a holiday tradition that's been a very long time in the making. Sober Salon is specifically for people in recovery. It welcomes any and all art\, crafts\, and performances. Bring a sweater you knitted\, a painting\, a magic trick\, a comedy routine\, and certainly feel welcome to bring music and poetry! Truly\, any artistic work is welcome. Art helps all of us express difficult emotions\, and sharing it on stage helps us build trust in others. We hope that Sober Salon will help you move forward in your recovery and connect with a new\, healthy circle of friends.   Things to Know: Doors will open at 6:30PM and sign up will be on a first come first serve basis.Presentations will be five minutes max.The kitchen will be open for service. We have a piano and a variety of instruments\, including guitars you can use.We will not offer a screen for displaying photos\, but we will enable people to play backing tracks to sing with. This Sober Salon will be hosted by John Dillon and Vivian Nesbitt\, longtime creative partners whose lives and work bring together music\, storytelling\, creativity and recovery. John has been in long-term recovery since 1992 and has turned his own experience into a way of helping others\, bringing music and collaborative songwriting into treatment and recovery communities throughout the Northeast. Vivian Nesbitt is an accomplished actor\, writer\, producer\, singer\, musician\, and storyteller with a gift for drawing out the stories and creative spirit in others. Her work has spanned stage\, film\, radio and television\, and she brings warmth\, curiosity and a wonderful ability to make people feel heard and welcome. Together\, John and Vivian created and hosted the nationally syndicated public radio program Art of the Song\, spending more than 20 years talking with songwriters and artists about creativity\, inspiration and the process of finding one's own voice. Warm\, encouraging and deeply committed to the power of creative expression and human connection\, John and Vivian are a natural fit for Sober Salon\, and we're delighted to welcome them as hosts. We can't wait to welcome you! Admission is free thanks to the support of the Victor and Helen Geisel Foundation. \n \n	\n \n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n \n Doors Open\n Doors Open: 6:30 pm	\n \n	\n\n \n\n	\n \n	\n \n Price\n \n Member\n $27.11\n \n \n \n \n \n General\n $30.37\n \n \n \n \n \n Child or Student\n $15.18\n \n \n \n				 \n inclusive of fees\n \n \n \n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n \n \n Get Tickets \n \n Streaming\n \n \n \n	\n	\n	\n	\n \n \n Similar Events\n \n View All\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n Caffè Lena\n	\n	\n \n\n The Beatle Caffè\n\n American Roots Folk Jazz Multi-act Program Soul\n \n \n \n \n event\n \n \n \n \n Nov 8 • 3 PM \n \n	\n\n\n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n Caffè Lena\n	\n	\n \n\n The Beatle Caffè\n\n American Roots Folk Jazz Multi-act Program Soul\n \n \n \n \n event\n \n \n \n \n Nov 8 • 7 PM \n \n	\n\n\n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n Caffè Lena\n	\n	\n \n\n Peak Jazz Series: Frank Vignola & Vinny Raniolo\n\n Jazz\n \n \n \n \n event\n \n \n \n \n Nov 20 • 8 PM
