Now in its twentieth year\, Children at the Well brings together youth from diverse backgrounds. Participants form a community of acceptance and support\, and learn to become confident and fearless in front of an audience through professional training in the art of storytelling. They find and share their unique voices—building confidence\, compassion\, and connection along the way. These talented young storytellers will take the stage at Caffè Lena to share tales- original and otherwise- that reflect imagination\, humor\, curiosity\, and heart. It’s an uplifting afternoon that celebrates the timeless power of story to bring people together.  Stories told are suitable for school aged children to adults. Bring the family and join us for this delightful celebration of creativity\, courage\, and community—where every story is a spark that connects us all. Made possible by a generous gift from Kevin and Claudia Bright. Note: Caffe Lena does not permit ticket reselling above face value. SUMMARY:65th Anniversary Folk Heritage Series: The Kennedys Rockin' Holiday Show
DESCRIPTION:American Roots Bluegrass Celtic Family Folk \n\n \n Share:\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nVocalists/guitarists Pete and Maura Kennedy\, a husband and wife duo\, first met when Pete was playing guitar in Nanci Griffith’s Blue Moon Orchestra. When Maura replaced Iris DeMent as a harmony singer on a Griffith tour\, they found themselves in the same band\, and opened shows for Griffith as a duo. The Kennedys hosted the late lamented Dharma Café program on Sirius satellite radio\, and on Broadway\, they are regular cast members of Theatre Within’s annual tribute to John Lennon – working in that capacity with Patti Smith\, Debbie Harry\, Jackson Browne\, Cyndi Lauper and a host of others.  \n \nMulti-instrumentalists known for their harmonies and blend of folk\, rock\, bluegrass\, country and pop\, The Kennedys have written uplifting\, evocative original tunes\, and have put their imprint on a broad range of covers. They sing about love\, loss\, trust\, caretaking\, the environment and social consciousness. “The operative word for us when we write lyrics is ‘compassion\,’” said Pete Kennedy. “We do believe that music can heal and\, as songwriters\, we feel a responsibility to use the craft to lift spirits and encourage. There are certainly other schools of artistic thought\, but that’s the one we practice.” The pair mix passionate songwriting with a flair for entertainment and a repertoire of classic songs. Think of a song by Buddy Holly\, the Everly Brothers or the Beatles\, and that smile on your face is the same smile you’ll be wearing when The Kennedys hit the stage. \n \nSAMPLE SONG  \n \nFor this show\, Pete and Maura ring in the holiday season with an evening of good vibe tunes celebrating Winter\, the season of renewal and regeneration. Sway and sing the snowy night away to cold weather classics\, Ronnettes rockers and a Fab Four singalong. Way more fun than an office party! \n \nStream this show live at Caffè Lena TV. Enjoy two weeks of access with your live stream ticket. \n \n \n \nNote: Caffe Lena does not permit ticket reselling above face value. Want to share a theater piece you’re writing? \n \nJoin us for the 1st Sunday monthly Playwright’s Jams! \n \nA monthly meetup hosted by Caffe Lena for local writers\, actors & directors \n \nThe First Sunday of the Month 1:30pm- 4:00pm \n \nDoors open at 1:00; Casting begins at 1:15pm and Readings start at 1:30pm! \n \nBring your great ideas\, your new scripts\, your edits and your friends for an inspiring afternoon fo theater in the making. \n \n\nPlaywrights should bring a highlighted script for each of their actors and one extra for stage directions\nBring a short scene (7-8 minutes). Cast your actors from the audience\, including your fellow playwrights. Give them brief directions and then put them on stage to read your script. We’ll go around the room after the reading and let everyone give a “popcorn” reaction (one word!).\nEach meeting will include 6 or 7 scenes selected at random from those submitted. After the readings we’ll have time to hang out and get acquainted. \nThis event will be co-hosted by Michael Wells-Oakes and Vivian Nesbitt\nPlaywright Nice! We foster a diverse community that has a great time making art and helping one another get better. We sometimes refer to our genre as eclectic acoustic. \n \nRed Spruce and Adirondack Song Dogs will kick off each session with a few tunes then open the floor for musicians to lead their favorite bluegrass tunes and folk music\, backed up by the other pickers in the gathering. Simple tunes are always popular! So sharpen up your axe\, come prepared with your song\, and let us hear some good old fast\, high and lonesome\, some slow and low\, or a good old favorite. All are welcome! \n \nWhat is a Slow Jam? \n \nIt is a group of string instrument players and singers who get together to have fun making music. The “slow” modifier indicates that it is targeted to the following musicians: people who have been playing solo and want to get used to playing in a group setting: people who have just learned how to play and want to play with others; people who have instruments that have been gathering dust for a “few” years; experienced players who are trying out playing instruments other than their primary instrument; people who are comfortable playing their instrument but want to become more comfortable singing/leading a song.. The tunes are played at 80 to 110 BPM and usually in basic keys such a G\, A\, D\, C major\, but it always sounds great to play in some minor keys such as “a”\, “e”\, and “g”. We will try to avoid “jam busters.” It is our hope that after this experience you will feel more comfortable playing at the many open jams and open mics that can be found in our area. \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n \n \n \n \n	\n \n Streaming\n \n \n \n\n\n \n	\n \n Similar Events\n \n View All\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n	\n \n Caffè Lena\n	\n\n \n\n Mandolin Vitamins – Tunes\, Techniques and Ensemble Music\n\n Bluegrass Instructional\n \n \n \n \n class\n \n \n\n \n Apr 6 • 10 AM \n	\n	\n\n\n\n \n \n \n\n	\n \n Caffè Lena\n	\n\n \n\n Music Theory for Jammers with Bruce Thompson\n\n American Roots Bluegrass Workshop\n \n \n \n \n class\n \n \n\n \n Apr 8 • 7 PM \n	\n	\n\n\n\n \n \n \n\n	\n \n Caffè Lena\n	\n\n \n\n Guitar Workshops with Bruce Thompson\n\n Bluegrass Instructional Workshop\n \n \n \n \n class\n \n \n\n \n Apr 9 • 9 AM

With twelve acclaimed solo albums\, countless awards\, and performances at legendary venues including Carnegie Hall\, The Hollywood Bowl\, and New York’s Village Vanguard\, Monheit has secured her place among some of the great interpreters of our time. \n \nA native of Long Island\, Jane’s early immersion in music—piano\, woodwinds\, choirs\, and community theater—was always centered on jazz. While still a student at the Manhattan School of Music\, she placed second in the prestigious Thelonious Monk Competition\, launching an extraordinary career that has included collaborations with jazz icons like Tommy Flanagan\, Ron Carter\, Kenny Barron\, Terence Blanchard\, John Pizzarelli\, and Christian McBride. \n \nHer artistry has been featured on television shows from Letterman to CBS Sunday Morning\, and on soundtracks such as Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and Never Let Me Go. Haymer’s stunning\, modern arrangements combine with Jane’s impassioned interpretation to create a truly affecting experience\, inspired by years of friendship and collaboration. \n \nThis special evening at Caffè Lena will be half holiday show and half jazz concert—a perfect blend of seasonal sparkle and timeless swing. A self-described Christmas fanatic\, Jane has released two extremely popular holiday albums\, The Season (2005) and The Merriest (2022). His early albums Stories and A Carnival of Voices announced a songwriter of uncommon depth\, and his career since has only reinforced that promise. With over 20 albums\, countless awards\, and song placements in films and TV\, Ellis blends personal reflection\, cultural insight\, and poetic storytelling with humor\, grace\, and depth. His latest album\, written during the pandemic while facing a hand condition that threatened his ability to play\, 55 captures resilience\, gratitude\, and the joy of still making music. \n \nSongs like “Holy” and “When Angels Fall” grapple with loss and fragility\, while “Cosmos” and “The Gift” shine with love and hope. With nods to his Beatles inspiration and collaborations with Laurie MacAllister\, Abbie Gardner\, and Seth Glier\, Ellis delivers an album—and a performance—brimming with honesty and life. \n \nBeyond his music\, Ellis is also a poet\, illustrator\, children’s book author\, and mentor to new songwriters. His songs have appeared in films\, TV\, and tribute concerts\, and he continues to inspire legions of fans who each carry a favorite Ellis Paul song close to their hearts. \n \nSAMPLE SONG \n \nJoin us for an intimate evening with one of America’s most beloved troubadours—a songwriter who continues to find new stories\, new songs\, and new ways to connect. \n \nStream this show live at Caffè Lena TV. DESCRIPTION:Bluegrass Instructional Workshop \n\n \n Share:\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nJocelyn & Chris – Live in Concert\n \nOriginally from Fort Plain in New York’s Capital Region\, sibling duo Jocelyn & Chris have carved out a distinctive place in modern rock with four consecutive Billboard AAA Top 40 singles\, millions of streams across digital platforms\, and coast-to-coast live performances. \n \nTheir music has been featured on NBC’s Today Show\, MTV\, Spin\, American Songwriter\, Guitar World\, HuffPost\, The Hollywood Reporter\, and more. Their Billboard Top 20 single “Sugar and Spice”—hailed by American Songwriteras “pure American rock goodness”—appears in the Peter Hutchings film Which Brings Me To You\, starring Lucy Hale and Nat Wolff. Another fan favorite\, “Shame\,” is featured in the video game Guitar Hero. \n \nKnown for their soulful vocals\, retro-leaning guitar work\, and electric\, often humorous chemistry on stage\, Jocelyn & Chris have collaborated with talents including Cory Wong (Vulfpeck)\, G. Love\, Byron Isaacs (The Lumineers)\, and Danny Louis (Gov’t Mule). \n \nBoth graduates of Harvard University\, Jocelyn & Chris continue to expand their creative reach—writing and producing new music alongside labelmate Margo Macero and other artists. Outside of music\, Jocelyn is pursuing law\, while Chris is completing his PhD in computer technology. \n \nSAMPLE SONG \n \nBecause this has been a busy year personally for the siblings\, this performance at Caffè Lena will be their only live show of the year—a rare chance to experience Jocelyn & Chris’s unmistakable blend of rock\, soul\, and sheer musical chemistry live on stage. \n \nA Note from the Artists\n \nWe\, along with our managers Anna and David Bourgeois and our team at Bridge Road\, want to extend our deepest gratitude and love to Joel Moss\, who passed away unexpectedly. \n \nWe first met Joel years ago at Caffè Lena\, and he soon joined David to co-produce our album Favorite Ghosts. We had hoped to make many more musical memories with him—but sadly\, that is not to be. \n \nWhat we can and will do\, is bring you a night filled with the music we love. We have to—because we know Joel will always be listening. \n \n— Jocelyn & Chris \n \nCan't make it to the show in person? Stream this show live at Caffè Lena TV. Enjoy two weeks of access with your live stream ticket. \n \nThe Momentum Series features high energy music–solo or band. These are typically more shows that infuse the room with crackling energy rather than featuring solo acoustic performers. Many\, but not all\, of the monthly Momentum artists are playing our venue for the first time. \n \nThe Momentum Series is Made possible by the generous support of Joseph & Luann Conlon\, in honor of Thom O'Neil. \n \nNote: Caffe Lena does not permit ticket reselling above face value. This one-of-a-kind touring concept features SK and a different friend in each city. Drawing on relationships and history from his 25 year career\, the pair will share the stage\, swapping songs and stories\, for a one night only\, limited engagement event. We are thrilled to be welcoming Stephen Kellogg and the Kellogg Sisters! \n \nDescribed as “Ted Lasso with a guitar\,” Stephen Kellogg brings warmth\, wit\, and wisdom to every stage he graces. Whether he's playing heartfelt tunes\, telling hilarious stories\, or delivering stand-up-style reflections on life\, Kellogg’s shows are known for leaving audiences feeling inspired\, uplifted\, and deeply connected. \n \nWith more than 25 years in the music business\, Kellogg has earned his stripes as a Grammy-nominated artist\, award-winning Armed Forces Entertainer of the Year\, author\, TEDx speaker\, and overall troubadour of truth and humor. His sound\, once described by Rolling Stone as “John Prine fronting the Heartbreakers\,” moves effortlessly between folk\, Americana\, and rock—always grounded in lyrical sincerity. \n \nBring a friend\, bring your heart—this is the kind of night you’ll be talking about for a very long time. \n \nSAMPLE SONG \n \nCan't make the show in person? This one-of-a-kind touring concept features SK and a different friend in each city. Drawing on relationships and history from his 25 year career\, the pair will share the stage\, swapping songs and stories\, for a one night only\, limited engagement event. We are thrilled to be welcoming Stephen Kellogg and the Kellogg Sisters! \n \nDescribed as “Ted Lasso with a guitar\,” Stephen Kellogg brings warmth\, wit\, and wisdom to every stage he graces. SUMMARY:The Suitcase Junket
DESCRIPTION:American Roots Bluegrass Celtic Family Folk \n\n \n Share:\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nThe Suitcase Junket [solo artist Matt Lorenz] will be rolling out new songs in anticipation of going into the recording studio this winter. Love to have you there to be part of the process. There’ll be plenty of songs tonite from Lorenz' six previous albums as well.  \n \nThe Suitcase Junket developed in the tension between the grand and the solitary. Grand in imagery\, sound\, and staging. Solitary in thrift and self-reliance. NPR calls Matt Lorenz a "master of musical imagination." What instruments he requires\, Lorenz builds from scratch and salvage. What parts five players would perform\, he performs alone. The spectacle of his one-man set bears comparison to legends of showmanship\, brilliance\, madness\, and invention. While audiences are captivated by that solitary form and the show itself\, Lorenz\, who homesteads in Western Massachusetts\, is most serious about the songs. Over the course of six full-length releases\, including the latest The End is New from Renew Records at BMG\, he has written a world into existence\, crowded with characters\, narratives\, voices\, imagery\, sounds as wide and varied as mountain throat singers and roadhouse juke boxes\, plus newsreels of the planet's destruction and salvage. More songs are coming.  \n \nSAMPLE SONG \n \n“A living\, breathing\, throat-singing\, road-tested\, avant-garde\, one-man-band who is in a state of perpetual motion… gutsy\, fuzzed-out\, groove-laden psych rock.” – National Public Radio  \n \n"Now this is the shit I'm talking about\, Jack. The Suitcase Junket is a lo-fi\, low-tuned\, low-down blast of end-times folk blues. It's crude; it's magnificent. With a stage set-up that resembles a junkyard foley stage or Fred Sanford's living room\, The Suitcase Junket — one man band leader Matt Lorenz — incants and intones like a cross between Hound Dog Taylor and a Tuvan throat singer who has swallowed a bird. Take the singer-songwriter idiom\, give it a low grade fever and a guitar and this is what you get. Captivating\, mesmerizing\, and gone … real gone." – Rochester City Newspaper  \n \n“Jaw-dropping… It’s the biggest sound I’ve ever heard come from a solo performer. Matt is definitely his own thing and it is something. The live experience is pretty\, darn unforgettable.” — Beale Street Caravan \n \n"Bluesy guitar riffs\, tenacious melodies and a singing voice both weathered and nimble. You don’t need to witness his physics-defying performance to be captivated; the music stands on its own… astonishing." – WBUR Boston \n \nStream this show live at Caffè Lena TV. Live stream available for $5 – 100% of live stream tickets on CaffeLenaTV benefit the artists. His follow-ups\, Music in Film: The Sequel and Off the Charts\, solidified his place as a boundary-pushing bandleader and visionary musician. \n \nThe drummer-bandleader's most recent album\, Looking Back\, is a thrilling jazz reinterpretation of classic rock and soul hits from the 1960s and '70s. There are fresh\, dynamic takes on the music of James Brown\, Jimi Hendrix\, Led Zeppelin\, and Bob Dylan\, all brought to life through the virtuosic energy of the Richard Baratta Gotham City Latin Jazz Quarytet. \n \nSAMPLE SONG \n \nBaratta and his Sextet blend the soul of classic rock with the improvisational fire of jazz\, creating a performance that is both nostalgic and fresh\, familiar yet unpredictable. SUMMARY:Goodnight Moonshine
DESCRIPTION:American Roots Bluegrass Celtic Family Folk \n\n \n Share:\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nGoodnight Moonshine feat. Molly of Red Molly \n \nNew album "Business Unusual" exclusively available at the show! \n \nGoodnight Moonshine is a guitar and vocal duet\, and a musical marriage in all senses. The Duo combines the evocative voice and songwriting of Molly Venter of Red Molly fame\, with Eben Pariser’s adventurous and awe-inspiring guitar playing. The result is folk music with a depth of improvisation and tonal subtlety usually reserved for jazz. Molly’s enviable voice\, which can be called both “biker-chick smoky” (New Haven Register)\, and “like silk” (American Songwriter Magazine)\, has taken her career to highlights including Tønder Festival in Denmark\, Kate Wolf Fest in CA\, and multiple placements on television and film. “Pariser’s harmonic sensibilities are wide\, imaginative” (NPR)\, and he describes his own playing as "Cooder-grass" in honor of Ry Cooder- part Django part Frisell with a touch of Jerry's ethos. A natural producer\, Eben now has 9 studio records under his belt for himself and other artists. \n \nNEW RECORD \n \nGoodnight Moonshine's ground-breaking new album “Business Unusual” which releases everywhere spring 2026\, explores the difficulty of modern family life—which the couple experienced acutely by having twins in early COVID—and it tracks the transformation and spiritual awakenings that followed. \n \nMolly and Eben spent 30 sweaty days in the studio\, searching for magical live-takes. Jazz master-drummer Ryan Sands and Upright bassist (& Eben’s childhood bestie) Adam Chilenski\, added the finishing touches. The record was co-mixed by Grammy winner David Seitz\, and Produced by Eben Pariser. \n \nTogether\, they create performances that feel like a conversation—vocals and guitar trading ideas\, reacting in the moment\, building a hypnotic sound that deepens as the night goes on.  \n \nSAMPLE SONG – Their #1 Folk Hit \n \nThis is the very best of what two exceptional artists can create when they choose to go all-in—on the music\, on each other\, and on the truth. \n \nStream this show live at Caffè Lena TV. Live stream available for $5 – 100% of live stream tickets on CaffeLenaTV benefit the artists.
