We sometimes refer to our genre as eclectic acoustic. \n \nRed Spruce and Adirondack Song Dogs will kick off each session with a few tunes then open the floor for musicians to lead their favorite bluegrass tunes and folk music\, backed up by the other pickers in the gathering. Simple tunes are always popular! So sharpen up your axe\, come prepared with your song\, and let us hear some good old fast\, high and lonesome\, some slow and low\, or a good old favorite. All are welcome! \n \nWhat is a Slow Jam? \n \nIt is a group of string instrument players and singers who get together to have fun making music. The “slow” modifier indicates that it is targeted to the following musicians: people who have been playing solo and want to get used to playing in a group setting: people who have just learned how to play and want to play with others; people who have instruments that have been gathering dust for a “few” years; experienced players who are trying out playing instruments other than their primary instrument; people who are comfortable playing their instrument but want to become more comfortable singing/leading a song.. The tunes are played at 80 to 110 BPM and usually in basic keys such a G\, A\, D\, C major\, but it always sounds great to play in some minor keys such as “a”\, “e”\, and “g”. We will try to avoid “jam busters.” It is our hope that after this experience you will feel more comfortable playing at the many open jams and open mics that can be found in our area. \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n	\n Doors Open\n Doors Open: 6:00 pm	\n \n \n	\n	\n \n Price\n \n Suggested Donation\n $5.00\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n \n	\n \n Similar Events\n \n View All\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n Caffè Lena\n	\n	\n \n\n Open Mic\n\n Multi-act Program Open Mic\n \n \n \n \n class\n \n \n \n \n Oct 26 • 7 PM \n \n	\n\n\n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n Caffè Lena\n	\n	\n \n\n Playwright’s Jam\n\n Open Mic Other Storytelling Workshop\n \n \n \n \n class\n \n \n \n \n Nov 1 • 1:30 PM \n \n	\n\n\n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n Caffè Lena\n	\n	\n \n\n Open Mic\n\n Multi-act Program Open Mic\n \n \n \n \n class\n \n \n \n \n Nov 2 • 7 PM

SUMMARY:Peak Jazz Series: Ben Sherman Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Multi-act Program Open Mic \n\n \n Share:\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nA rising talent on New York City's vibrant jazz scene\, Ben Sherman combines a deep respect for the music's rich history with a fresh\, adventurous approach to improvisation and composition. His playing is expressive\, inventive and firmly rooted in the jazz tradition\, while always looking for new possibilities. \n \nSherman's musical journey began in middle school\, and by his teenage years\, he was already making his way into New York City's legendary jazz jam sessions\, learning firsthand from the musicians who make the city's jazz scene one of the most exciting in the world. Along the way\, he studied with acclaimed saxophonists Abraham Burton and Tim Berne\, developing a musical voice that balances technical command with creativity and emotional depth. \n \nDespite his young age\, Sherman has already shared the bandstand with an impressive array of musicians\, including Joel Ross\, William Parker\, Anthony Hervey and Winard Harper. He has also toured with Freedom First\, a powerful musical project featuring Keith LaMar\, and performs regularly at celebrated jazz venues including The Jazz Gallery and Smalls Jazz Club. \n \nWith the Ben Sherman Quartet\, he brings together a group of talented young musicians who share his passion for exploration and musical conversation. Current quartet members are Roman Goron on piano\, Solomon Gottfried on bass\, Jacob Patrone on drums\, and Ben on saxophone. The quartet's sound draws on the energy and sophistication of classic jazz while embracing the spontaneity and fresh ideas of today's generation of players. Expect inventive arrangements\, expressive solos and the kind of musical interplay that makes small-group jazz so exciting. \n \nAt Caffè Lena\, where every nuance can be heard and the connection between musicians and audience is immediate\, the Ben Sherman Quartet offers a chance to experience an emerging jazz voice up close. \n \nCome hear where the next generation is taking jazz. \n \nSAMPLE SONG \n \nThe Peak Jazz Series is made possible by the generous support of Joseph & Luann Conlon in memory of Joel Moss. \n \nStream this show live at Caffè Lena TV. Chris Arndt morphed from John Mayer to Eddie Van Halen to Jimi Hendrix and back again.” Baeble declared of Jocelyn\, “Her voice will grab you by the collar\, bang your head on the table\, and make you pay attention.” \n \nThe siblings have released six full-length studio albums\, two live albums\, and a holiday EP. Since then\, everyone from Bob Dylan and Van Morrison to Rod Stewart\, Jorma Kaukonen\, John Sebastian and Peter Rowan has called on Cashdollar to bring her unmistakable sound to their music. \n \nShe was also the first woman inducted into the Texas Steel Guitar Hall of Fame\, and in 2022 the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum honored her as one of its “Nashville Cats\,” recognizing the musicians whose playing has helped shape countless recordings and performances. \n \nFor Two Many Guitars\, Cashdollar joins guitarist Jack Petruzzelli for a trip through a century of music\, moving from the jazz of Django Reinhardt\, Thelonious Monk and Hoagy Carmichael to the roots music of Chet Atkins\, Lonnie Johnson and beyond.   \n \nPetruzzelli brings a formidable musical history of his own. A multi-instrumentalist\, songwriter and Grammy-nominated producer\, he has worked with Patti Smith\, Ian Hunter\, Joan Osborne and Rufus Wainwright and is a founding member of acclaimed Beatles tribute band The Fab Faux.   \n \nAnd for this Caffè Lena show\, they’re bringing a full band: Karl Allweier on bass and vocals\, Will Bryant on piano and vocals\, and Justin Guip on drums. \n \nExpect Western Swing\, jazz\, blues\, country and roots music to rub shoulders\, with plenty of room for five exceptional musicians to stretch out\, trade ideas and follow the music wherever it wants to go. \n \nWith Cashdollar’s extraordinary command of steel guitar\, Petruzzelli’s versatility and musical imagination\, and a powerhouse rhythm section\, Two Many Guitars promises an evening of inspired musicianship\, unexpected musical twists and the kind of interplay that makes live music so exciting. Five outstanding musicians\, a century of musical inspiration and a whole lot of talent on the Caffè Lena stage. This is one for the music lovers! \n \nSAMPLE SONG \n \nStream this show live at Caffè Lena TV. Livestream available for $5 – 100% of live stream tickets on CaffeLenaTV benefit the artists. Now this extraordinary artist is coming back. \n \nPhiladelphia-born singer\, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Gail Ann Dorsey is widely recognized as one of the most respected bass players and vocalists in modern music\, with a career that has placed her alongside some of the most influential artists of the past four decades. \n \nMany fans know Dorsey from her longtime collaboration with David Bowie. She held the bass chair in Bowie’s touring band from 1995–2004\, and her extraordinary voice became an unforgettable part of their live performances of the Queen/Bowie classic “Under Pressure.” She recorded and performed extensively with Bowie during one of the most creatively adventurous periods of his later career. \n \nDorsey’s remarkable musical journey has also included recording and touring with artists including Lenny Kravitz\, Tears for Fears\, Seal\, Gwen Stefani\, Bryan Ferry\, Gang of Four\, The National\, Thomas Dolby\, and many others. She has also been a featured vocalist with Blackstar Symphony\, celebrating Bowie’s music alongside other musicians who knew and worked with him. \n \nBut Gail Ann Dorsey has always been much more than the extraordinary musician standing beside somebody else. She is a songwriter and solo artist in her own right\, with three acclaimed albums to her name: The Corporate World\, Rude Blue and I Used to Be… Now\, more than two decades after her last solo album\, Dorsey is returning to that part of her musical life with new music. \n \nHer forthcoming album\, The Appearance of Life\, brings the focus squarely back to her own voice\, writing and musicianship. Inspired in part by the sophisticated sounds of 1970s AM/FM radio and artists including Carole King\, Roberta Flack and Joan Armatrading\, it marks an exciting new chapter for an artist whose career has never followed an ordinary path. \n \nLast time she visited Caffè Lena\, every seat was filled. This time\, we have the rare chance to welcome her back as she enters a new chapter of her own extraordinary career. \n \nDon’t miss Gail Ann Dorsey up close at Caffè Lena. \n \nSAMPLE SONG \n \nStream this show live at Caffè Lena TV. SUMMARY:Racquette River Rounders Annual Boxing Day Reunion Show
DESCRIPTION:Multi-act Program Open Mic \n\n \n Share:\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nCelebrate Boxing Day with the Raquette River Rounders\, bringing great picking\, old favorites and decades of musical friendship to Caffè Lena. \n \nAt Caffè Lena\, the day after Christmas means the Raquette River Rounders. \n \nGuitarist Danny Gotham and singer-songwriter John Kribs first joined forces with the late bassist Michael Hadfield in the late 1970s\, creating an eclectic North Country string band that never paid much attention to musical boundaries. Traditional reels and jigs might rub shoulders with old country\, swing and blues\, followed by Fats Waller\, Elvis Presley or one of their own songs. The Rounders toured extensively\, made two albums for Adirondack Records and built a devoted following before officially going their separate ways in the early 1980s. \n \nYear after year\, the Rounders have found their way back to Caffè Lena for their annual Boxing Day Reunion Show\, turning December 26 into a gathering of old friends\, longtime fans and newcomers discovering what all the fuss is about. And there’s plenty of musical history on that stage. Danny Gotham is a master flatpicker and fingerpicker who took second place in the prestigious National Fingerpicking Guitar Championship in Winfield\, Kansas\, and has performed with artists including Tom Paxton and Peter Ostroushko. John Kribs has spent nearly six decades making music\, from the Northeast coffeehouse circuit and the Rounders to Johnny & The Triumphs and beyond\, writing and performing an enormous range of American roots music along the way. \n \nWhat brings them back together\, though\, is simpler than all those credentials: these guys love playing music together. Expect great picking\, songs you haven't heard in years\, songs you didn't know you needed to hear\, plenty of stories and the easy chemistry that comes from a musical friendship stretching back nearly half a century. \n \nChristmas may be over\, but nobody says the party has to be\, come spend Boxing Day with the Raquette River Rounders at Caffè Lena\, a holiday tradition that's been a very long time in the making. \n \nSAMPLE SONG \n \nStream this show live at Caffè Lena TV. He has received the Armed Forces Entertainer of the Year Award\, earned a Grammy for songwriting\, and recently celebrated the 3\,000th performance of his professional career with the double album Road to 3000 Live! At the same time\, his one-hour comedy special Maybe This Will Work has brought another side of his storytelling to audiences on Amazon Prime. \n \nBut all those accomplishments really lead back to the same thing: Stephen Kellogg knows how to connect with a room. \n \nHis shows cover a lot of emotional territory\, family\, love\, disappointment\, hope\, growing older\, trying again\, and the absurdity that runs through all of it. He can make you laugh hard\, catch you completely off guard with a song\, and leave you thinking about something he said long after the lights come up. \n \nAt Caffè Lena\, where there’s very little distance between artist and audience\, that combination of music\, humor and storytelling should feel especially at home. \n \nCome ready to laugh\, listen and leave with a full heart. \n \nSample Song \n \nStream this show live at Caffè Lena TV. DESCRIPTION:Multi-act Program Open Mic \n\n \n Share:\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nFor more than two decades\, Stephen Kellogg has built a career around songs\, stories and humor that leave audiences laughing\, thinking and somehow feeling a little better about the world when they walk out than they did when they came in. \n \nA songwriter\, troubadour\, TEDx speaker\, stand-up comic and author\, Kellogg has performed thousands of shows around the world\, earning a reputation as one of those rare performers who can move effortlessly from a beautifully written song to a hilarious story and back again without ever losing the emotional thread. \n \nPlanet Bluegrass calls him “a first class songwriter with a poet’s gift for fresh imagery\,” while Counting Crows frontman Adam Duritz says\, “there are few people in rock n’ roll who are just so great.” Rolling Stone may have summed up his musical side best\, describing his sound as “John Prine fronting the Heartbreakers.” \n \nKellogg’s career has also taken him far beyond the traditional singer-songwriter circuit. \n \nHis shows cover a lot of emotional territory—family\, love\, disappointment\, hope\, growing older\, trying again\, and the absurdity that runs through all of it. Her music is intimate\, atmospheric and emotionally honest\, with haunting harmonies and melodies that linger long after the last note. \n \nA songwriter first and foremost\, Shea has a gift for turning journal entries into anthems and fleeting emotions into songs that feel deeply personal yet remarkably universal. She writes for anyone who's loved too hard\, stayed too long\, left too soon\, or struggled to find their way through the complicated business of being human. Her goal is simple: to make listeners feel a little less alone. \n \nRaised in Upstate New York and now based in Nashville\, Shea graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2026\, where she studied songwriting and live music business. She's building her career around the kind of honest\, emotionally resonant songwriting that invites audiences to connect not just with the music\, but with their own experiences. \n \nAt Caffè Lena\, where listening is part of the experience\, Shea's heartfelt lyrics and expressive voice promise an evening of music that feels like a conversation with an old friend\, one who somehow knows exactly what you've been through. \n \nSAMPLE SONG \n \nStream this show live at Caffè Lena TV. Their project\, Old Friends Beckoned / New Sounds Reckoned (Skydeck)\, blends their considerable individual artistry into a collective voice through original compositions where personal prowess is set aside in favor of deeper collaboration. The result is a seamless\, emotive sound that resonates with listeners. \n \nCapital Region native Matt Steckler (Matty Stecks)\, described as “delightfully eclectic” by Downbeat and “inspired by greater artistic depth” by Jazz Times\, is a versatile performer and composer. Primarily a saxophonist and woodwind specialist\, he also incorporates vocals\, keyboards\, percussion\, and electronic media into his performances. Recognized for his work with groups like Dead Cat Bounce and Persiflage\, Steckler has performed at major festivals in North America and Europe\, always bringing a dynamic\, holistic approach to the stage. \n \nPianist/composer Yayoi Ikawa\, born in Tokyo and raised musically in New York\, embodies creativity and empathy in her playing. Her 2004 release Angel Eyes showcased her talent in a straight-ahead jazz piano trio\, while her self-produced Color of Dreams highlighted her original compositions. Ikawa\, who has performed at festivals across the U.S.\, Japan\, Italy\, and more\, believes jazz is a social art form and strives to pass it on to future generations. \n \nBassist Lonnie Plaxico integrates the rigorous technique of classical\, the improvisation of jazz\, and the rawness of funk. His career has seen collaborations with the likes of Sonny Sitt\, Alice Coltrane\, Stanley Turrentine\, Joe Sample\, Abbey Lincoln\, and Dizzy Gillespie. Plaxico has also released five albums as a leader\, each met with critical acclaim. \n \nDrummer Tony Lewis\, a South Bronx native\, has played with Little Richard\, Sting\, B.B. King\, Dizzy Gillespie\, Cyndi Lauper\, Michael Hill’s Blues Mob\, and several others. A graduate of NYC's famous LaGuardia High School of the Arts\, his wide-ranging career spans jazz\, blues\, and funk\, with music rooted in his deep connection to family and tradition. \n \nSample Song \n \nStream this show live at Caffè Lena TV. SUMMARY:The Faux Paws
DESCRIPTION:Multi-act Program Open Mic \n\n \n Share:\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nWhat happens when you mix bluegrass\, Celtic fiddle tunes\, jazz saxophone\, old-time music\, folk\, and a healthy disregard for musical boundaries? You get The Faux Paws. And there's really nobody else quite like them. \n \nThe Faux Paws are a band that defies description\, and they seem perfectly happy about it. Brothers Andrew and Noah VanNorstrand and multi-instrumentalist Dean Miller have spent more than a decade creating a sound that's entirely their own. It's wildly inventive\, rhythmically irresistible\, sometimes beautifully tender\, sometimes downright explosive\, and always full of surprises. \n \nThe VanNorstrand brothers grew up playing traditional dance music in their family's band\, Great Bear\, developing an almost telepathic musical connection along the way. When they met Miller at Ashokan music camp in New York\, something clicked. His background in jazz\, bluegrass and Cajun music\, along with his extraordinary versatility on saxophone\, clarinet\, banjo\, dobro and more\, opened up a whole new world of musical possibilities. \n \nAnd what possibilities! Noah's fiery fiddling and remarkable Québécois-style foot percussion can make him sound like an entire rhythm section. Andrew's intricate guitar work provides the foundation\, while Dean's saxophone takes unexpected turns that might make you wonder how on earth it fits into a folk band. Somehow\, it all works brilliantly. \n \nBut beneath the dazzling musicianship and playful experimentation are terrific original songs\, heartfelt lyrics\, tight three-part harmonies and the unmistakable chemistry of musicians who genuinely love making music together. \n \nTheir self-titled debut album was named one of Folk Alley's 10 Best Traditional Albums of 2021\, and their 2023 Backburner EP reached the Top 10 on Billboard's Bluegrass Albums Chart. Their second full-length album\, No Bad Ideas\, released in 2024\, further established their reputation as one of acoustic music's most imaginative and exciting bands. They've also expanded their touring sound with upright bass\, frequently featuring Chris Felix Sartori of Twisted Pine and Peter Rowan's band. \n \nA Faux Paws concert can take you from a foot-stomping fiddle tune to a soaring saxophone solo\, from a beautifully intimate song to an exhilarating burst of improvisation\, sometimes all within the same piece of music. \n \nAt Caffè Lena\, where musical traditions are treasured and adventurous artists are always welcome\, The Faux Paws are a perfect fit. Come ready for anything. You may not know exactly what to call the music\, but you'll know you had a great time hearing it. \n \nSAMPLE SONG \n \nStream this show live at Caffè Lena TV. If you missed them\, here's your chance to find out what all the excitement is about! \n \nWith dazzling musicianship\, beautiful harmonies\, and an adventurous spirit\, The Cody Sisters are among the most exciting young bands making acoustic music today. Rooted in bluegrass and traditional American music but never content to stay within the lines\, this Colorado-based trio brings together fiery bluegrass picking\, gorgeous vocal harmonies\, and original songs that venture well beyond traditional boundaries. This is where bluegrass is going. \n \nSisters Megan Cody (guitar\, mandolin\, vocals) and Maddie Cody (guitar\, banjo\, vocals)\, joined by bassist Will Pavilonis\, bring an extraordinary combination of instrumental skill\, inventive songwriting\, and musical chemistry to the stage. Their lightning-fast picking and intricate arrangements are impressive enough\, but it's the warmth of their harmonies and the emotional depth of their original songs that make their performances so memorable. \n \nThe band's self-titled 2023 EP marked an important turning point. Moving beyond their early identity as a family band\, Megan and Maddie emerged as confident\, imaginative songwriters with a musical vision entirely their own. Their latest project\, Archipelago\, continues that journey\, exploring new textures and influences while maintaining a deep connection to their bluegrass roots. \n \nWith performances throughout the United States and the United Kingdom\, The Cody Sisters are building a following among listeners who appreciate both exceptional musicianship and songs that have something to say. \n \nTheir recent appearance at Caffè Lena @ SPAC was a highlight of the festival\, winning over the crowd with their remarkable playing\, beautiful harmonies\, and infectious energy. One set at Caffè Lena @ SPAC simply wasn't enough. We had to bring them to Lena's for more! \n \nAt Caffè Lena\, we've always taken special pleasure in discovering and championing artists whose music deserves to be heard. The Cody Sisters are exactly that kind of band\, and we couldn't be more excited about what lies ahead for them. \n \nCome hear The Cody Sisters now. We have a feeling you'll be hearing a lot more about them in the years to come. \n \nSample Song \n \nStream this show live at Caffè Lena TV. DESCRIPTION:Multi-act Program Open Mic \n\n \n Share:\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nWith more than two decades on the road\, 15 albums\, and a remarkable collection of awards to his name\, Nova Scotia’s Dave Gunning has earned his place among Canada’s most respected and beloved folk singer-songwriters. A gifted storyteller with a quick wit\, a warm stage presence\, and a knack for finding the extraordinary in everyday life\, Gunning has a gift for turning everyday experiences into compelling songs filled with heart\, humor\, and humanity. \n \nOne minute he’ll have you laughing at a perfectly delivered story\, and the next he’ll bring the room to complete silence with a song that gets right to the heart of something we all recognize. His music is deeply rooted in the working communities of Nova Scotia\, but the stories he tells about family\, resilience\, injustice\, kindness and belonging are universal. \n \nHis latest album\, Field Notes\, recorded in Australia in 2025\, strips things back to what he does best: honest songwriting\, thoughtful observations and stories\, wonderful stories! If you love  songs that celebrate everyday heroes and hard truths\, delivered by someone who knows how to make an audience feel like old friends\, spend an evening with Dave Gunning. \n \nYou'll leave with a few good laughs\, some beautiful songs to remember and probably a story or two you'll want to tell someone else. \n \nSAMPLE SONG \n \nStream this show live at Caffè Lena TV. SUMMARY:Bright Series: Bronwyn
DESCRIPTION:Multi-act Program Open Mic \n\n \n Share:\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nIf you love bluegrass played with breathtaking skill\, a little edge and the kind of energy that makes a room come alive\, Bronwyn is one to see. \n \nA Grammy winner and two-time IBMA Fiddle Player of the Year\, Bronwyn is a dazzling instrumentalist\, but this show is about much more than virtuoso fiddle playing. Backed by a powerhouse band of Nashville pickers\, she brings together hard-driving bluegrass\, Americana and roots music with original songs\, strong vocals and the exhilarating interplay of musicians who know how to push each other. \n \nHer new album\, Rattlin’ Bones\, captures the sound of an artist stepping fully into her own. After years as a sought-after fiddler and a member of Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway\, Bronwyn is now out front as singer\, songwriter and bandleader\, making music that feels rooted in bluegrass tradition without being confined by it. \n \nExpect fiery fiddle breaks\, lightning-fast picking\, beautiful ensemble playing and quieter moments when the song takes over. There’s plenty here for serious bluegrass fans to marvel at\, but you don’t need to know a thing about bluegrass to get swept up in it. \n \nBronwyn says she wanted to make music “that you’d want to turn up so loud\, that it’d rattle your bones.” \n \nCome hear what she means. \n \nSAMPLE SONG \n \nThe Bright Series is made possible by a generous gift from Kevin & Claudia Bright\, these monthly shows feature artists playing the venue for the first time. These are fresh\, contemporary roots-based bands that are making waves on the national folk scene\, getting strong radio play\, charting\, releasing albums\, developing a strong following on social media\, touring hard\, and selling out venues. \n \nStream this show live at Caffè Lena TV. Hughes’ guitar work and the duos' emotive harmony vocals are pure magic. Their music moves easily between styles like folk\, Americana\, and acoustic indie without ever losing its focus on strong songwriting and clear\, expressive performances. It’s a sound that has carried them from the UK to festivals across the U.S.\, including Philadelphia Folk Festival\, Kate Wolf Music Festival\, and AmericanaFest\, as well as official showcases at multiple Folk Alliance conferences. \n \nSAMPLE SONG \n \n“…stunning harmonies that were so good it reminded me of seeing Gillian Welch and David Rawlings” –No Depression \n \n“The Black Feathers are acoustic\, but with enough power and force to drive a sledgehammer.” –Roots Magazine \n \n“Sheer poetic beauty both lyrically and musically.” –Cryptic Rock \n \nInterspersed with their sparkling ballads they share a ripping sense of humor that never fails to leave the audience in stitches. \n \nStream this show live at Caffè Lena TV. Every year\, Sawyer Fredericks comes back. Every year\, audiences come from near and far to see him. And for the past four years\, these shows have sold out. We’re delighted to welcome Sawyer back for two more Sawyer-toga shows\, and if history is any indication\, you won’t want to wait too long to get your tickets. \n \nRaised on a farm in central New York\, Fredericks began performing at farmers markets\, open mics and some of New York’s most storied venues when he was just 13. His deep\, soulful voice\, introspective songwriting and strikingly assured performances soon brought him to a much larger audience when he won Season 8 of NBC’s The Voice. \n \nBut winning The Voice was only one chapter in a musical life that has continued to evolve very much on Sawyer’s own terms. \n \nAfter releasing his major-label debut\, A Good Storm\, with Republic Records\, Fredericks chose independence. His 2018 album Hide Your Ghost\, which he wrote and produced himself\, stripped away the major-label polish and returned the focus to what had drawn listeners to him in the first place: the songs\, the voice and an artist determined to follow his own instincts. \n \nHis 2020 album Flowers For You earned premieres from People\, American Songwriter and Billboard\, while two of its songs received top honors from the Independent Music Awards. “Born” found an audience on SiriusXM’s Coffee House channel and Amazon Music’s Fresh Folk and Americana playlist. \n \nFredericks continued exploring new musical territory with 2023’s The Golden Tree EP\, featuring his band along with Sav Buist and Katie Larson of The Accidentals\, and a 2024 collaboration with fellow Upstate New York artist Cassandra Kubinski on “Burn It Down.” \n \nHis latest album\, No Need To Wonder\, released on Earth Day 2025\, turns his attention toward the natural world and our relationship with it. He supported the album with full-band and solo touring\, including performances at City Winery and a West Coast run. \n \nThrough all of that growth\, Caffè Lena has remained a place Sawyer returns to year after year. There’s something special about hearing an artist with this much history in a room this intimate\, surrounded by people who have watched his music grow and change over the years. For some\, Sawyer-toga has become an annual reunion. For others\, this will be the first time hearing that remarkable voice from just a few feet away. Either way\, we look forward to welcoming you in. \n \nSawyer-toga is back at Caffè Lena\, and remember: the last four years have sold out. \n \nSAMPLE SONG \n \nStream this show live at Caffè Lena TV.
