SUMMARY:Brubeck Brothers Quartet / Pre-Show Conversation w/ Janis Ian & Chris Brubeck
DESCRIPTION:Other \n\n \n Share:\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	\n	All ticket holders are invited to attend a special pre-show conversation with Chris Brubeck and Caffè Lena Artist-in-Residence\, Janis Ian. Beginning at 3:00 PM\, Janis will sit down with Chris for an intimate discussion about songwriting\, touring\, and a lifetime spent making music. The conversation will conclude at 3:30 PM\, followed by the early Brubeck Brothers Quartet show at 4:00 PM. Doors open at 2:30PM. This special event is included with the purchase of a ticket to The Brubeck Brothers Quartet Early Show\, 4:00 PM only\, on August 23rd. "The music is uniformly excellent in its composition\, execution\, and recording quality. Once again the BBQ attains that rarefield level where music is both relaxed and expressive\, and their joy in its creation is contagious. There's nothing out there that comes close to their unique blend of inventiveness." — All About Jazz Comprised of brothers\, and sons of jazz legend Dave Brubeck\, Dan Brubeck (drums) and Chris Brubeck (bass\, trombone) as well as Mike DeMicco (guitar) and Chuck Lamb (piano)\, The Brubeck Brothers Quartet is an exciting and dynamic group that showcases the best of "straight-ahead" jazz. Their concerts reveal an inherent ability to explore and play odd time signatures while naturally integrating the influences of funk\, blues and world music. The group’s creativity\, technique and improvisation can be heard in their uncompromising music\, which reflects their dedication to melody\, rhythm\, culture and the spontaneous spirit of jazz. These versatile musicians also collaborate with orchestras all across the U.S. as well as internationally\, including performing with the Singapore Chinese Orchestra and the Russian National Orchestra. With Chris Brubeck’s compositions as a vehicle\, the BBQ has joined with chamber groups to collaborate with musicians from the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra\, the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Russian National Symphony Orchestra. SAMPLE SONG “You already recognize the last name\, but I would much prefer to play this track for you on a blindfold test. The first thing you would notice is the stellar rhythm section — clean\, crisp swing with great interaction between the players\, and a very smart use of space. Sometimes guitar and piano clash in a small combo\, but not with DeMicco and Lamb\, who show how these two instruments are supposed to work together. And the same can be said for the Brubeck brothers. Dan Brubeck’s drumming is a revelation … Some serious fraternal camaraderie is going down here. This track deserves a double dose of airplay.” — Ted Gioia\, Jazz.com (reviewing 'Good Question' on "Classified") Stream this show live at Caffè Lena TV.
