DESCRIPTION:American Roots Bluegrass		\n\n		\n			Share:\n			\n								\n				\n					\n				\n\n				\n				\n					\n				\n\n				\n				\n					\n				\n\n				\n				\n					\n				\n			\n		\n\n	 \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nAll are Welcome!\nWE LOVE TO MEET NEW PICKERS\,\nAND WE LOVE PUTTING ON A GOOD SHOW FOR LISTENERS!\n \nThis weekly program is made possible by the generous support of PHLY Foundation! \n \nTHERE ARE NO PRE-SHOW RESERVATIONS FOR THE JAMS! \n \nSUGGESTED DONATION AT THE DOOR. $5.00 per person \n \nOur jams are all about sharing songs\, making new friends\, and enjoying a relaxing and casual evening of irresistible string band music. \n \nALL are welcome to join the circle for an afternoon or evening playing and listening to classic grass\, new grass and folk favorites. We sometimes refer to our genre as eclectic acoustic. \n \nRed Spruce and Adirondack Song Dogs will kick off each session with a few tunes then open the floor for musicians to lead their favorite bluegrass tunes and folk music\, backed up by the other pickers in the gathering. Simple tunes are always popular! So sharpen up your axe\, come prepared with your song\, and let us hear some good old fast\, high and lonesome\, some slow and low\, or a good old favorite. All are welcome! \n \nWhat is a Slow Jam? \n \nIt is a group of string instrument players and singers who get together to have fun making music. The “slow” modifier indicates that it is targeted to the following musicians: people who have been playing solo and want to get used to playing in a group setting: people who have just learned how to play and want to play with others; people who have instruments that have been gathering dust for a “few” years; experienced players who are trying out playing instruments other than their primary instrument; people who are comfortable playing their instrument but want to become more comfortable singing/leading a song.. The tunes are played at 80 to 110 BPM and usually in basic keys such a G\, A\, D\, C major\, but it always sounds great to play in some minor keys such as “a”\, “e”\, and “g”. DESCRIPTION:Bluegrass Instructional Workshop		\n\n		\n			Share:\n			\n								\n				\n					\n				\n\n				\n				\n					\n				\n\n				\n				\n					\n				\n\n				\n				\n					\n				\n			\n		\n\n	 \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nEllen Pieroni is a soul jazz saxophone player and multi-instrumentalist from Buffalo\, NY. She has been playing the saxophone since she was 8 years old\, and has been a side woman in a multitude of bands (including Folkfaces and Buffalo Afrobeat Orchestra) for over a decade. \n \nPieroni’s smooth-infused soul jazz band Ellen Pieroni & the Encyclopedia of Soul\, or EoS\, was featured on NPR’s All Things Considered as one of three “jazz stand outs” for the 2024 Tiny Desk Contest\, where Felix Contreras said that “soul jazz is alive and well with…Ellen Pieroni & the Encyclopedia of Soul.” Although the group is inspired by artists such as Grover Washington Jr.\, King Curtis\, and the Crusaders\, EoS puts an emphasis on new original music. The sound is driven by Pieroni’s captivating and soulful melodies\, supported by thoughtful improvisation from all members over deep pocket grooves. \n \n“When [Ellen] takes her solo\, it really warms my heart because I hear the same soulfulness of Cannonball\, or any of the sax players who played with Ray Charles back in the 50s\, or the more contemporary alto saxophonist David Sanborn.” \n \n– Felix Contreras\, NPR’s All Things Considered \n \nThe band features Adam Bronstein (guitar)\, Isaiah Gethers (drums)\, Jacob Nicholson (keys)\, and Dominic Missana (bass). \n \nSAMPLE SONG \n \nThis show is part of our Momentum Series\, made possible by the generous support of Joseph & Luann Conlon\, in honor of Thom O'Neil. \n \nThis series features high energy music–solo or band.
