Join us at Caffè Lena as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Special Consensus\, a renowned bluegrass band that has been captivating audiences since 1975. Founded and led by banjo virtuoso Greg Cahill\, recipient of the International Bluegrass Music Association's Distinguished Achievement Award and inductee into the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music in America's Hall of Greats\, the band has consistently delivered a contemporary bluegrass sound while honoring its rich traditions. Over the years\, Special Consensus has garnered numerous accolades\, including two Grammy nominations and multiple IBMA awards. Their 2018 album\, Rivers and Roads\, was nominated for a Grammy and earned the IBMA Album of the Year award\, with the track "Squirrel Hunters" receiving the Instrumental Recorded Performance of the Year. Their 2020 release\, Chicago Barn Dance\, features the title track that won the IBMA Song of the Year award. The current lineup features Greg Cahill on banjo\, Greg Blake on guitar and vocals\, honored as the 2023 IBMA Male Vocalist of the Year\, Dan Eubanks on bass\, and Brian McCarty on mandolin.
