Upright Bass with Dylan Perrillo

In this course we will be exploring the fundamentals of being a bass player in an ensemble setting. We will dive into topics that will help shape each musician’s approach to practicing and strengthen their understanding of their relationship with their instrument. This series of group lessons will be a lot of fun as we uncover together the aspects of this instrument that make it so enjoyable to play. We will also focus on the absolute essentials of being a rock solid bassist including: language, sound production, time and tone, among others.
Dylan is a conservatory trained upright bassist, composer and arranger from New York’s capital region who maintains an active performance schedule within the early jazz and folk music circles. He enjoys composing original music for his groups the Dylan Perrillo Orchestra and Dylan Perrillo Quintet and writing/arranging music for fellow musicians and singer-songwriters. He is a 2011 graduate of the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam and has performed with notable artists such as Stephane Wrembel, David Amram, Aurore Voilqué and many others.
