On Tuesday, March 17, Rochmon Record Club will converge at Caffe’ Lena 47 Phila Street, Saratoga Springs, to listen to and learn about Bonnie Raitt’s ‘Roots in the Blues’ a Retrospective Listening Party.
Inspired by Blues music and musicians at the earliest stages of her long, award-winning career, you’’ll go back to the beginning, listening to blues cuts off Bonnie Raitt’s first and second albums from 1971 and 1972 including “Mighty Tight Woman” and “Women be Wise” by classic blues woman Sippie Wallace and showcasing the slide guitar technique adopted from her blues mentor Mississippi Fred McDowell. The Rochmon will also play cuts off Bonnie’s first live performance album, 1995’s ‘Road Tested’, highlighting Bonnie’s evolving talents as a most sensitive interpreter of the songs of her friends, including “Thing Called Love”, “Love Letter”, “Angel From Montgomery” and 7 more.
A Rochmon Record Club Listening Party is meant to inform and deepen our understanding of the history of the individual performers, songs, and stories that went into the making of this classic album. By listening together, we hear the music again for the first time.
