Raised in Arizona, trained in art school, and forged in Portland’s roots scene, Kassi found her voice through experience and trial, quietly building a cult following with her previous albums Dear Dead Days and Kassi Valazza Knows Nothing. Now hailed as one of folk-Americana’s most compelling new voices, she has shared the stage with artists like Melissa Carper and Riddy Arman, and earned praise from NPR, KEXP, and MOJO.

Her newest album, From Newman Street, follows that arc with poetic precision. Written half in Portland and half in New Orleans, the record traces her personal evolution with striking vulnerability and lyrical grace. From the haunting lilt of “Weight of the Wheel” to the Joni Mitchell–tinged wit of “Your Heart’s a Tin Box,” Valazza lays bare the highs and lows of self-discovery, love, and letting go.
