After School Guitar Club for Teens 
One hour workshops for beginner intermediate guitar players.

Cost $150 for all 10 sessions. Drop ins $25/per session if space allows

Topics:

Week 1 – Rhythm Playing I: Basic chord forms and progressions in various keys. Simple strumming patterns. Concepts for timing and playing in a group.

Week 2 – Rhythm Playing II: More complex chord forms & progressions in various keys. Advanced strumming patterns incorporating syncopation, bass lines, kicks and stops.

Week 3 – Lead ins, Fills & Tags: Concepts behind adding single note lines to rhythm or accompaniment playing such as lead ins to chord changes, fills in between chords, or lines in a song and tags at the end of songs or sections.

Week 4 – Singing and Playing: Tips for singing and playing at the same time, both solo and in a group.

Week 5: Leading Songs & Playing in Groups: Best practices for leading a song in a group. Arrangements, beginning and ending songs.

Week 6 – Solos and Breaks I: Beginning concepts of taking solos/breaks. Learning melodies, knowing the beginning and ending, and basic improvisation/embellishments, on a melody.

Week 7 – Solos and Breaks II: Beginning improvisation techniques utilizing scales to play over chord progressions.

Week 8 – Blues: Basic blues structure and chords. How blues concepts fit into other styles of music.

Week 9 – Choosing and Arranging Songs: Approaches to choosing and learning new songs and creating arrangements.

Week 10 – Open Discussion/Q&A: Review of previous class topics.
