Folk Heritage Series: Eric Andersen Acoustic Duo with Steve Addabbo
American Roots Folk Singer Songwriter

Eric Andersen is a towering figure in the world of folk music—a songwriter, poet, and performer whose words have stirred hearts and shaped the genre for over five decades. Emerging from the vibrant Greenwich Village scene of the 1960s, Andersen quickly became known for his deeply literate, introspective songs and striking stage presence.

He’s the writer behind iconic tracks like “Thirsty Boots,” “Violets of Dawn,” and “Close the Door Lightly When You Go”—songs that have been recorded by artists including Judy Collins, Linda Ronstadt, The Grateful Dead, and Bob Dylan. Over the years, he’s collaborated with musical giants like Joan Baez, Lou Reed, Townes Van Zandt, and Joni Mitchell, forging a path that bridges folk, rock, and poetic songwriting with elegance and emotional power.

With more than 30 albums to his name, Andersen’s body of work is as rich as it is enduring. He continues to evolve as a performer and storyteller, bringing new depth and insight to every stage he graces.
