Greetings – Many of you have heard that the tips you so generously leave for the volunteers are now going into a fund that we’re calling the Volunteer Advised Fund. Each quarter our volunteers decide how to spend the money in support of Caffe programs. For this first quarter, the volunteers voted to fund 10 days of Caffe Lena On the Road residencies, and 10 weeks of the Thursday afternoon Weekly Slow Jam for seniors. This means that our volunteers are not only providing hospitality at the concerts, they’re making it possible for hundreds of people to enjoy live music who might otherwise be left out. Thank you, team!

Looking through the descriptions below, a most welcome bunch of words jump out: wonder, hope, restorative, passion, serene, groovy, complexities, vibes. I hope you enjoy sampling the music and picking the show that will make your week special.

See you at the show,
Sarah

P.S. Many of you have requested access to the recording of Joe Deuel’s slideshow and talk that kicked off our 65th Anniversary year. Here it is, now on our YouTube channel. Please watch and share!

The “biker-chick smoky” voice of Molly Venter of Red Molly, with husband, Oberlin-trained guitarist Eben Pariser of classic jazz band Roosevelt Dime. Exquisitely delivered acoustic songs that explore the complexities of marriage, the Creator, birth, life, death and the roller coaster that is everyday life.

With guitar, reeds, brass and drums, the Po’ Boys get the walls shakin’! Seven A-list players blend New Orleans traditions, funk, Caribbean vibes, and more for an unforgettable winter’s night at Lena’s. They were an audience favorite at “Caffe Lena @ SPAC 2023” and we’ve been eager to bring them back to Saratoga ever since.

The Peak Jazz Series is made possible by Joseph & Luann Conlon in memory of Corrine Simonds.
