Greetings – I can’t tell you how many grimaces, eyerolls and nervous smiles I’ve gotten over the past few days when I ask Caffe visitors, “How’s it goin’?” Election jitters. You don’t have to be home alone spending quality time with your frazzled nerves on Tuesday. Caffe Lena will be open! We have a storytelling open mic, with a featured storyteller whose lineage on this soil far pre-dates the USA and its volatile horse races, political and otherwise. David Kanietakeron Fadden is Akwesasne Mohawk, a painter, a storyteller, and a member of the family that founded Six Nations Iroquois Cultural Center in Onchiota, NY. So get your voting done, then come on over to Lena’s, set aside the march of events, and immerse yourself in stories.

We still have a good number of seats available for the remarkable Michael McDermott on Thursday (don’t miss his song below), and Ryanhood on Sunday. The others are sold out, or about to be sold out.

See you at the show,
Sarah

“McDermott isn’t a song & dance man. He’s a serious artist. Not necessarily a folk singer either. He’s about as important, pertinent & reinforcing as James Taylor, Cat Stevens (Yusef Islam), Peter Himmelman, & John Hiatt. There’s a Tin Pan Alley quality, with intense songwriter delicacy that isn’t mainstream pop music.”
– Americana Highways

Natural folk sensibility, pop hooks, and honest rock that explores the dark corners of life’s journey by a kid that grew up on Chicago’s Irish South Side. Appeals to fans of Springsteen, Van Morrison, John Steinbeck, Patti Smith.

“Possibly the greatest undiscovered rock & roll talent of the last 20 years.”
– Stephen King

Calling it “hillbilly rock ‘n roll,” Gaudet does it all: Americana-roots, classic and outlaw country, Southern rock, honky-tonk, blues, Cajun. His conversational style of singing, with clear diction & an abundance of good humor, leaves fans feeling like they’re talking with a good friend over the back fence.

Six 518 bands are raising money for the Caffe’s free community programming, such as open mics, children’s shows, Caffe Lena On the Road and more. They’re offering fresh takes on Young’s classics, such as “Heart of Gold” and “Old Man,” as well as his electrifying work with Crazy Horse on tracks like “Cinnamon Girl” and “Rockin’ in the Free World.” Featuring Rick Bolton, Coal Palace Kings, The Croaks, Nick Ferrandino, Mike McMann and the UnderDawgs, and Super 400.
