September 2 - 8 - Caffe Lena

Pre-renovation Caffe Lena, 2016. We’ll be closed Sunday to Friday this week for some venue maintenance, reopening Saturday for a short but very sweet weekend.

Greetings – We felt indestructible. Indeed, the Caffe Lena family was and is strong as can be. But that building that held us needed a lot of help. Our community saved it, and we promised to take care of it properly. The time has come to strip and refinish the floors, from the atrium stairs to the stage, and everything in between. They’ve gotten more wear and tear than we ever imagined since the “new” Caffe’s opening night. I remember that night well! It was New Year’s Eve. Lots of snow, and not too cold. The crowds poured in to get a look at the new place, along with slush and salt and water galore. What a mess! We learned quickly that we needed to install lots of waterhogging mats for the winter months. We’ve learned all sorts of post-renovation lessons, from how to keep our physical plant in good shape, to how to be open every night of the week, to how to use our space during the day for lessons and musical gatherings, to how to pass the folk tradition forward by making music for everyone–starting with toddlers. It has been a joy to keep growing and learning, with your steadfast support.

We have just two shows for you this coming weekend. One is already sold out, and the other is getting close. We thank you for a strong summer season, and we look forward to sharing so much good music with you this fall.
