Greetings –  This is a great time of year to try new things. The weather has been dreary, the holidays are in the rearview, and most of us could use a little mood boost. Aleksi Campagne (Thursday) is a classically trained musician, son of one of Canada’s premier folksingers, and does incredible things with a looping pedal and a violin. His new bilingual album has critics raving. You’re probably not busy on Thursday, so come check him out.

And then there’s Joy Clark, with her contagious smile and an artistic practice focused on love and peace. After years of being mentored by Cyrille Neville, and accompanying Allison Russell and Rhiannon Giddens, she’s getting a barrage of gig offers across the country. You won’t want to miss her Capital Region debut this Friday.

In the words of either Bob Dylan, Roger Miller or Bob Marley (depends on who you ask), “Some people feel the rain. Others just get wet.” So, come soak up some music with us this week.

See you at the show,
Sarah

Son of Canadian folk icon Connie Kaldor, this fast-rising indie-folk artist studied under jazz violin legend Didier Lockwood in Paris and continued his jazz and classical studies at McGill University. His “performances are impressive not just sonically but also visually as you watch him seamlessly navigate different instruments and languages.” (Garnette Report) He blends beautifully sung folk lyrics with layers of voice and violin accomplished with a looping pedal.
Highly recommended!

“Art is our best hope for facing the most brilliant, most complicated and most frightening things we’ll ever face on earth–and that’s ourselves. If we want to share secrets, let out our most untamed feelings and thoughts, and show other people the way we see the world, we need recording studios, theaters, books, concert halls and galleries.” Your support keeps this stage available for all the songs that help us grow.
