Greetings – The happy music hitting our stage this week feels just right for the season. Folkfaces (Thursday) will put a smile on your face and a bounce in your step–not just because their music is great, but because they’re four of the friendliest guys you’ll find. Maswick and Brown’s sweet-as-sugar harmonies fill the room on Saturday. And then we bring two fretboard giants, Scotland’s Tony McManus and Vermont’s Paul Asbell–onstage together!–to the Caffe on Sunday.

The amazing show taking place Friday, featuring former US Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky with jazz backing from Grammy-winners Todd Coolman and Bill Cunliffe, is sold-out. BUT, you can stream it on Caffe Lena TV for 48-hours only. (We won’t be able to leave this one up for a week, as we usually do.)

Folk, blues, early jazz & Celtic all twined together by two world-class guitarists. Scots-Canadian McManus is fiendishly dexterous, merging jazz and global Celtic traditions. Chicago South Side native Asbell is “a major league acoustic player.
MEMBERS’ CORNER
Saratoga is a horse town, as everyone knows. In the summer season, many community groups reach out to the backstretch workers who care for the animals and put in very long hours behind the scenes. Our School of Music is one of the groups that provides extra enrichment for the children of the workers, most of whom come from Central and South America. We’ll bring musical performances, singing and rhythm activities, and real instruments to play with. This outreach is made possible by the generosity of Granite & Marble Works, and to all of you whose donations support our School of Music year ’round. Thank you!

Caffe Lena has nearly 1,000 active members. These folks are planting songs and growing community with their annual donations. They also get the best seats in the house, early access to special shows and some neat swag. Learn More
