Greetings – With just a couple days left in May, I have to give you the count on the May Membership Drive. We’re falling short. With tremendous gratitude to the 52 people who have joined up since May 1, we still need 11 more of you to help out before June 1.  We run the May Membership Drive to replace lost members, meet increasing expenses, and help fund our growing programming.

Please, will you please help today?

  • Sign up for the first time. It really helps, and the benefits are great!
  • Renew a lapsed membership. If you’re not sure of your membership status, reply to this email and we’ll check for you.
Click for Membership
  • Already a member? Upgrade by a level. You’ll be good for another 12 months. Use this form to donate just the difference between your current membership and the level you want to upgrade to. Leave us a note that your donation is for your membership upgrade.
Thank you to our entire community of members, old & new.
All the wonderful things happening here are possible because of you.

See you at the show,
Sarah

This stringband from Portland, OR blends bluegrass, Americana, folk and blues in spare, moving tunes that are often melancholy. Their lockstep vocal harmonies and innovative arrangements appeal to fans of Watchhouse, Alison Krauss & Union Station, John Prine and Crooked Still.

Balladeer and song poet since the ’60s, Anderson’s cinematic songs (Thirsty Boots, Violets of Dawn) are timeless. His artful blend of love, despair, hope and stirred memory has earned him the admiration of artists ranging from Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen to Lou Reed and Bob Dylan.

Ambassador of the blues and one of the finest fingerpickers out there, he has been a Caffè Lena favorite since 1968. Roy first came to our stage with the legendary Rev. Gary Davis. He has the stories, the licks, and the mystery of timeless music in his fingers. He’s been featured in a PBS special and interviewed by Terry Gross on NPR’s “Fresh Air.”  He’s also a regular at Fur Peace Ranch, where he teaches alongside Jorma Kaukonen.

A profound songwriter for more than 50 years, Smither draws deeply from the blues, American folk music, modern poets and philosophers. Reviewers continue to praise his dazzling guitar work, gravelly voice and songwriting. “There is plenty of misty Louisiana and Lightnin’ Hopkins in Smither’s weathered singing and unhurried picking. So fine.” (Rolling Stone)

MEMBERS’ CORNER

This legendary space for songs is here because of your generosity, and we are fully committed to keeping this place beautiful for another 63 years! Thank you.
