Greetings – I had the opportunity to sit down with Michael Nelson of Saratoga Business Report recently. We covered a lot of ground in our 45 minute podcast conversation, but one point feels especially relevant this week: small venues are the foundation of the music world. Careers start in small venues where artists can feel exactly how their songs are being received. Our job is to find the ‘best of the best’ and give you the chance to get in on the ground floor. I would love to have you come out for Grace Pettis on Thursday, or for our Bright Series showcase on Friday. These nights when we take a chance on someone new are the nights that have made Caffe Lena world famous as a launch pad for the music the rest of the world will be listening to in years to come.
See you at the show,
Sarah

She uses her powerful, beautiful voice like a fine artist to color and craft her songs, blurring lines between country, Americana and folk. Her dad is Caffe Lena veteran Pierce Pettis. Her fabulous new album is an activist statement as well as an artistic one. “Her soulful delivery of calculated lyric lines helps her tell stories for all generations.” – American Songwriter Magazine

It’s a Hawaiian pā‘ina at Caffè Lena! Spring is not exactly around the corner in Upstate NY in late February, so why not get out the tropical shirts, leis and flip flops – and le‘ale‘a (have some fun) while we wait for warmer weather. Led by Graham Tichy on Hawaiian steel guitar and Don Young on electro-Spanish guitar, the Swingin’ Palms present a mix of original music, Hapa Haole rarities, and forgotten gems reconceived in a style that’s both authentic and fresh. Aloha!
