Greetings – Granted, it’s an apples to oranges comparison, but Byron Isaacs (Lost Leaders, Friday night – $25) just played in Saratoga with his other band, The Lumineers, less than a month ago, and while no seats at that show were as close as any seats at Lena’s, those who sat up front paid $400+. As we all know, prices are on the rise. If you, or a friend or relative, are looking at the cost of hotels, meals and flights and rethinking summer travel plans, I recommend a visit to Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs. Lucky are we to live in the place that most people want to travel to. Caffe Lena provides opportunities to see fabulous performances at a very affordable price in a room that sounds exquisite and feels like home.

If your budget is super tight right now, bear in mind that there’s Open Mic (draws great musicians and big crowds in the summer!), a free show this Saturday afternoon for families, many mid-week options that cost $5 or less, volunteer opportunities, and there’s always our super classy live stream on CaffeLena.tv.

The more stressy life gets the more we need music and connection. This community of music lovers is going to keep it accessible to everyone.

See you at the show,
Sarah

Tia Fuller’s Intersections
In-person tickets

When Tia Fuller picks up her saxophone, something amazing happens. Blending technical brilliance, melodic creativity, and precision drawn from her academic and stage experience, this GRAMMY-nominated artist is a force to be reckoned with. She has made a name for herself in the worlds of jazz, pop and R&B. Many know her as Beyonce’s sax player. For this special concert for the people of Saratoga presented at Lena’s by the Skidmore Jazz Institute, Fuller will be joined by Shamie Fuller-Royston (piano) Eric Wheeler (bass), Lexi Hamner (trombone) and Koleby Royston (drums).

Byron Isaacs of The Lumineers and singer-songwriter Peter Cole make pop-rock using vintage synthesizers, guitar pedals and intimate vocals. They speak to the zeitgeist in a way that is unguarded and singable. Born out of Levon Helm’s legendary Midnight Ramble, the band has been praised in the pages of RELIX, No Depression and The Huffington Post.

Like Alanis Morissette and Liz Phair, Tracy Bonham made her name during the alt-rock boom of the mid-’90s. Conservatory trained in classical violin, jazz and rock, she has never ceased growing, and challenging herself and her audience. In recent years she has revisited some of her breakout songs, stripping them down for an acoustic trio.
