Greetings – Caffe Lena’s Board of Directors has adopted a new mission statement. Our previous mission statement went on for a full paragraph and spoke to the importance of carrying on the folk tradition by presenting both emerging and established artists. Well, we still do that, as you’ll see from this week’s schedule! But, as you may have noticed, these days you’ll find a lot more than concerts happening at Caffe Lena.

Here’s the new mission statement: “To provide music, connection and learning from a legendary venue.”

  • It acknowledges music as our heritage and strength.
  • It embraces community outreach, our culture of shared tables, volunteerism, and open stage offerings through the word connection.
  • Encompasses the School of Music, Art of Community conversation series, children’s activities, TrueSongs, Community Classroom and other educational programs with the word learning.
  • Acknowledges Lena’s unique heritage and history with the word legendary.
  • Acknowledges our brick-and-mortar Caffe with venue, and our growing streaming/digital presence with the word from.
  • Offers an enticing snapshot to someone who has found us online and is intrigued enough to investigate further.

I think you’ll agree that the world needs more Caffe Lena right now. Rising to the challenges and opportunities of today fills us with hope that music will keep showing how people can live in harmony, create beauty and learn from each other. Thank you for being part of this never-ending journey.

See you at the show,
Sarah

MEMBERS’ CORNER
At long last, a six-year-old came to a Christmas show with her family last weekend! She had a wonderful time! Thanks to the availability of vaccinations for young children, she was our first little weekend audience member since March, 2020. We gave her a red Caffe Lena egg shaker and she got right to work making music as she left with her mom, dad and grandmother. All of you members are keeping musical traditions strong while the world bumps and grinds its way through this pandemic. Thank you.

Caffe Lena has nearly 1,000 active members. These folks are planting songs and growing community with their annual donations. They also get the best seats in the house, early access to special shows and some neat swag. Learn More
