Greetings – Every week we put between us and the worst of the pandemic brings greater comfort to our staff, musicians and audience. Things aren’t rushing back to normal, but here at Lena’s every month is a little better. I hope things are feeling better in your life, too.

Our double-header with Kathy Mattea on Tuesday is one of those bucket list shows, and the timing just couldn’t be better. She is a serious environmental activist who has done amazing work to shine a light on the perils of West Virginia’s coal industry (click photo above). She’s from a mining family and she has seen it all first hand. As leaders from across the globe meet in Glasgow to address the climate crisis, we welcome this Grammy-winning songwriter to sing us stories that inspire understanding and action.

See you at the show,
Sarah

The Projections Tour

Adjectives such as “unique”, “genuine”, “influential”, “innovative”, “exciting”, “dynamic”, “incandescent,” and “trail-blazing”, were often used by peers and music critics to describe the sounds of the Blues Project. They made a huge impact on the mid-60s music scene with their electric brew of rock, blues, folk, pop, and even some jazz, classical, and psychedelia. This reunion tour features original members Steve Katz and Roy Blumenfeld with Woodstock, NY heavy-hitters Chris Morrison, Ken Clark and Scott Petito. This is roots music, but it definitely ain’t your grandpa’s folksongs so come prepared to rock!

MEMBERS’ CORNER
Starting Tuesday we’ll be raffling off several lovely instruments donated to us by our members for the School of Music. These instruments are either too big or too fancy for the children, so with the blessing of the donors we’re using them to raise money to keep the school growing. Luthier (and member!) Alan Mapes put in a lot of hours getting the instruments in tip-top shape for the lucky winners! Tickets will be available in the lobby at shows – $20 for 5. GOOD LUCK!Caffe Lena has nearly 1,000 active members. These folks are planting songs and growing community with their annual donations. They also get the best seats in the house, early access to special shows and some neat swag. Learn More
