And . . . we’re live!
Greetings – (Re)Opening Weekend went off without a hitch. In fact, it went off with smiles and cheers and applause and a whole lot of blessings being counted. The Channel 10 news story above will give you a taste of opening night. While we’re thrilled to have you back, we’re taking this day by day. I expect we’ll be able to proceed as planned with the great live schedule we’ve lined up. But we’re watching the ever-evolving virus situation as closely as ever and if we feel it’s best to pull the plug and go virtual again, that’s what we’ll do. For now, the HEPA filters are humming, the pods are spacious, the masks are on and it’s all systems go!

Please take note of Saturday’s just-added show with Grand Boubousse, a favorite of the Albany swing dance scene. You’ll recognize the all-star line-up of this Brazillian Choro and Early Swing ensemble. Their music is utterly dreamy and charming!

See you at the show,
Sarah

Tom Lehrer Birthday Tribute with Byron Nilsson

Tom Lehrer celebrates his 93rd birthday today, and he probably wishes nobody would pay attention. Byron and Tom will reprise Lehrer’s his deathless classics, such as “Poisoning Pigeons in the Park,” “The Masochism Tango,” and “The Vatican Rag.” Lehrer quit the stage to teach math at Harvard and MIT after leaving his mark on the ’50s and ’60s with wicked, satirical songs that are side-splitting, timeless and well worth remembering.

Grand Boubousse or “Big Blowout” is an early jazz collective, featuring some of the region’s finest early jazz musicians. You’ll have a hard time keeping your tuchus on the couch when they swing into their fast, happy Brazillian Choros and early classics by Louis Armstrong, Coleman Hawkins, and Benny Carter.
Here’s a tip if you want to tell your friends about the show: Boubousse rhymes with caboose.
