Rebecca Hall & Ken Anderson |
| hungrytown.net |
CD
Give-away!
Rebecca Hall and Ken Anderson of Vermont take an old-school approach to folk music. Conjuring the ancient, haunting ballads of Appalachia and the British Isles, Rebecca has been hailed as "a true rarity: a new folk classicist" by the Boston Herald.
Combined with Ken's rootsy musical arrangements and '60s-era pop harmonies, the result is an altogether new, yet curiously familiar style they call "retro folk." Ken and Rebecca will be debuting their new CD, Hungrytown Road.
Ken and Rebecca will be debuting their new CD, Hungrytown, and all ticket
purchasers will receive a free copy with their admission! |

Thomasina Winslow was born and raised on blues music. She is the daughter of renowned country bluesman Tom Winslow. She spent her childhood performing and touring at his side as part of the Winslow Family band.
Now a mature talent in her own right, Thomasina has played in Europe, in countless NY schools, and in studios and stages up and down the east coast. Her debut album, Essential Tunes, is her "out from under, give back, keep the traditions alive, album." It blends classics such as "Get Back Ole Devil" and "Lord Send Me" with her own passionate originals. |

We'd present this band every weekend if we didn't have to leave room for everyone else we love.
With a nod to the great tradition of American string bands, and a wink to the classic 60s jug bands, this funky ensemble provides high-spirited good times on banjo, washboard, guitar, mandolin, dobro, kazoo and jug.
Those of you hip to the regional music scene may recognize Bowtie, Cousin Clyde, Mr. Eck, and Wild Bill from current and former starring roles with Blotto, The Star Spangled Washboard Band, Rumdummies, Stomplistics, and the list goes on.... |

Maine songwriter Jud Caswell's rural roots keep his new folk songs grounded in tradition and essential wisdom. His list of recently won competitions is too lengthy to include here, but includes top prize at Plowshares, Kerrville, Boston Folk Festival, Falcon Ridge, Suwannee Springfest, and more.
German-born Antje Duvekot's "provocative, dark-eyed ballads are becoming the talk of the folk world." (The Boston Globe) Songwriter Ellis Paul said "I think she's going to be the next great American folk singer-songwriter." Her deep, quiet songs will get under your skin. |

Pianist, vocalist, composer and fourth-generation Saratogian Carol R. Daggs kicks off the 1808-2008 Solomon Northrup Bicentennial Celebration with her chamber jazz work Solomon's Suite: A Celebration of FREEDOM Through the Arts.
Daggs will share works in progress and select compositions based on the 19th century narrative Twelve Years A Slave, chronicling the remarkable life of former Saratogian Solomon Northrup who was kidnapped into slavery in 1841 and spent twelve years in involuntary servitude before regaining his freedom.
