Vermont's Gordon Stone Band focuses on composition, interaction and improvisation.
On banjo, pedal steel, drums and guitar, they combine bluegrass and jazz, blended with Latin, world beat and funk in tunes ranging from laid back grooves to high energy musical excursions. As journalist Tim Lynch puts it, "This is music with enough energy to appeal to rock and jam-bands fans, as well as acoustic music lovers, newgrass fans and jazz lovers, all with enough danceable energy to move entire festival sites into dancing frenzies."

"He is the missing link between Paul McCartney and Cole Porter." -Seth Rogovoy
Cliff Eberhardt's guitar and piano melodies range from pop to folk to old-style jazz, with lyrics that find fresh, incisive ways to address the familiar themes of life gone good and bad.
He binds his deep songs together with riotous stories and one-liners worthy of a professional stand-up comedian. It's an emotional roller coaster ride that will leave you purified and eager to try it again.
Special guest Seth Glier blends smooth folk and bluesy soul in a sound all his own.

Bridging the gap between the three tenors and the three stooges... it's Modern Man! A cross between Crosby, Stills & Nash and the Marx Brothers, David Buskin, Rob Carlson and George Wurzbach are three celebrated singers and songwriters who have written for Judy Collins, Pat Benatar, Johnny Cash, etc.
Together they delight audiences with themes from God to Godzilla, from manliness to cluelessness, from ESPN to the FBI with a vocal blend that has not been heard since Ella and F. Scott Fitzgerald went their separate ways.

This duo mixes country rock and down-home, back-porch ballads to create a sound that's something like the Carter Family meets Crazy Horse.
The musical richness, spine-tingling harmonies and psychological depth of their music is irrefutable proof that the disarming granddaughter of Woody/daughter of Arlo and her prodigious South Carolinian husband quite naturally bring out the best in each other.

Bill Morrissey's lyrical gifts and graceful, understated melodies have won him two Grammy nominations and put him on stages across the world.
With songs influenced by Mississippi John Hurt, Hank Williams and Bob Dylan, Morrissey captures the harshness and small sadnesses of his characters, but tempers it all with wry humor that often leaves the listener with a smile.
He has a brand-new album out: "Come Running."

GANDALF MURPHY & THE SLAMBOVIAN |

CIRCUS OF DREAMS |

This band draws perhaps the most diverse audience ever seen at Caffè Lena--everyone from little kids to oldsters, metal-heads to contra dancers.
We're not sure how this one-of-a-kind rock band ended up in folk clubs, but whatever force steered them in that direction did a mighty kind thing.
Their songs have been described as "Hillbilly-Floyd, folk-pop", "alt-country roots-rock, and "surreal Americana." Dancing freely between religious and philosophical mythologies, their music is not only uplifting and empowering but fun--a lot of fun.

Over the years, Rowan songs have receive steady play from artists ranging from Jefferson Starship to the title track on long-time fan Ricky Skaggs' Grammy Award winning CD, "Soldier of the Cross," written by Lorin. This show comes very highly recommended!
"Atlanta's Best Traditional Folk Act in 2005 and 2006, Little Country Giants deliver depression-era country with a hint of bluegrass, jazz, blues, and Appalachian roots music. The band features Russell and Cameron Cook on upright bass and guitar, joined by David Long on mandolin and Andy Kay on pedal steel."

Dubbed the "Poet laureate of the Buddhist cowboys" by Rolling Stone magazine, West Texas legend Jimmie Dale Gilmore is a masterful songwriter with a pure, plaintive western voice and mystical lyrics full of ethereal images of hope and loss.
Voted Country Artist of the Year for two years running in the Rolling Stone Critics Polls, Jimmie brings a strange, mesmerizing beauty to everything he sings. In the early 1970s Jimmie Dale and Butch Hancock, along with boyhood buddy Joe Ely, formed the legendary Flatlanders. It's a rare treat to have these two guys on the East Coast together. |

This nimble, stripped down five-piece folk band from Boston (with frontmen originally from Schenectady) plays a wealth of original material inspired by blues, country, folk, pop, and rock, and throws in a few covers just for fun.
The sound is reminiscent of Neil Young meets Nickel Creek. The players are Andy Campolieto and Ben Lee writing songs and playing guitar, with Tim Weed on fiddle and mandolin, rock-steady Alex Lynch on bass, and Tien-Yi Lee breathing light into the songs with her jazz inflected drumming.

"The Future of String Band Music on a Silver Platter!" -Darrell Anger
They take this admonition seriously, but not too seriously. Shredding guitar licks, soaring gypsy violin, a little ukulele and the thump of an old time bass bounce around with jazz accordion to create a new sound. It's American Roots music with the edge of punk rock and the grace of chamber music.
The line-up is Brad Jones on guitar, Aaron Keim on bass and banjo, Scott McCormick on accordion and washboard, Kailin Young on violin and mandolin--and everyone sings and strums a uke!
