| Friday, Sept. 30 @ 8 PM | NEWTON STREET IRREGULARS | $12/10 |
More like a social club than a formal band, the Newton Street Irregulars bring the joy of music to audiences throughout New York. Their repertoire of old time songs, mountain laments, country joke tunes, Irish fiddle tunes, moving gospel music, and British music hall romps is presented in a deceptively casual manner that cannot mask the group's remarkable musicianship. Each plays multiple instruments, including guitars, fiddle, banjos, auto harp, hammer dulcimer, and concertina, and makes a contribution to the four and five part vocal harmonies heard on many pieces.
This is an excellent all-ages show that will leave you feeling refreshed and cured of cynicism. |
