Friday, February 4  @ 8 PM ANNIE & THE HEDONISTS $12/10
HedonistsThis band's "uncommon joy-de-vivre" (Don Wilcock, Schenectady Gazzette) made them an obvious choice to entertain the hundreds who pass through our room on New Year's Eve. We're bringing Annie and company right back for a full evening of acoustic folk, blues, jazz standards, bluegrass, gospel, labor ballads and early jazz. This fun quartet features the torchy, jazzy, spine-tingling vocals of Annie Rosen, with three and four part harmonies provided by husband Jonny Rosen (guitar), Steve Fry (mandolin, guitar & trumpet), and Betsy Fry (electric bass). Bottomline: they LOVE all music and LOVE to share it with their fans! You'll love it, too!   www.pickingandsinging.org/annie_rosen/

Sunday, February 6  @ 7PM STACEY EARLE AND MARK STUART $15/12
Stacey_MarkWith Special Guests: The Undesirables
Somewhere along the way country music took a turn. What used to be pure and simple is now too often watered-down, prefabricated pop music. Enter Stacey Earle. This San Antonio native, sister of legendary rocker Steve Earle, has made a return trip to yesteryear by offering traditional, stripped-down country music. Her twangy, unguarded, bittersweet singing, reminiscent of Nanci Griffith's, is like a breath of fresh air. Joined by her husband, former Steve Earle guitarist Mark Stewart, the duo never fails to provide a captivating, uplifting, and emotionally moving concert.   www.staceyearle.com

Sunday, February 27  @ 7 PM THE GRANDSONS $5 (the deal of the century!)
error-file:tidyout.logThis Washington, DC-based quartet is moving and shaking into its 18th year in the world of roots rock and roll. They’ve just released their fifth recording, Party With The Rich. Their previous album, Pan-American Shindig, spent ten weeks in the Americana Radio top-forty. The Grandsons recently spent a month in Taiwan after being chosen by the US government as ideal representatives of America’s celebrated musical style. The more prominent elements in their eclectic whirlpool are New Orleans rhythm and blues, rockabilly, swing and country two steps, all played brilliantly on a pawn shop of instruments. Vocalist-guitarist-trumpeter Alan MacEwen charms audiences with his sly wit and winsome original songs; DC blues veteran Matthew Sedgley locks in the groove on drums and percussion. Saxophonist Chris Watling puts out a sound so meaty and memorable that he is in demand all over as a guest artist and session player. The Washington Area Music Association has voted The Grandsons several Wammie Awards in categories such as Best Roots Rock Group, Best Album Design, and Best Pop Group. No wonder the Washington Post called The Grandsons "the hardest working band in DC."    www.grandsons.com
